RESIDENT OF MILLS PASSES
The death of Karl Fox Swetland occurred at his home in Mills on Friday, May 24, following an illness of several months.
Mr. Swetland was in his eighty-third year, and had been a resident in Harrison Township for 71 years. His father, Morgan W. Swetland, moved into Harrison Township from Cortland County, N. Y., when Karl was twelve years of age. For some 65 years Mr. Swetland has been a resident of Mills, and for 45 years of this period was the only harness maker in that vicinity.
In 1876 he was married to Ruth Arminda Metcalf of Brookfield, Pa., who preceeded him in death 11 years ago. To them were born five children:
- Chester Ray of Lebanon, Pa.;
- Henry Ross of Cattaraugus, NY
- Mrs. Blanche S. Huntington of Coudersport;
- Charles LeRoy, who died in 1919 at Pittsburgh, and
- Rupert M. of Schenectady, N. Y.
He is also survived by a widow, Ella A. and
- a sister Mrs. Clara Rexford and
two brothers,
- Chester A. and
- Henry H. Swetland, both of Mills.
- Another sister, Mrs. Eulella Harrison died last year in Mills.
The funeral was held on Sunday, May 26 in the Mills Union Church. Rev. Arthur Gregson, a former pastor and now minister of the First M. E. Church of Bolivar, N. Y., officiated. Mrs. Homer B. Potter of Coudersport sang two solos, accompanied by Malcolm F. Clark of Coudersport.
- Interment was made in the family plot in the Mills Cemetery.

Two camps in the Prouty section have recently been entered and ransacked by thieves. Camp owners should Immediately notify authorities when a camp is raided, giving list and descrip tion of property taken
