Taken circa 1942-1943 at the Main and Second Street intersection. The boy at right is my uncle, Ken Tingley. We’re hoping someone can identify some of the other boys pictured. The building in back hasn’t changed much, only the signs are gone! Once Halloran’s Hardware and I believe earlier owned by Whitey Von Nieda at the time of the photo (corrections welcome if appropriate), it’s now the Eliot Ness Museum.

Teri McDowell I checked the 1940 census and it show they resided in Austin in 1940. Wondering if friend may be from Austin or had they moved to Coudersport by 1942.

Brenda Kenealy Williams they did move from Austin to Coudy at some point in the early 1940s. Kenny was born in 1928 or 29, and I’m thinking he must have been about 14 at the time of the photo, so it could be 1943 but I don’t believe any later than that. They were still in Austin at the time of the 1942 flood, so that narrows it a bit. My grandfather worked at the tannery and Abbott’s Dairy.

How sad. I did look at other pages that Lanny posted at that time but couldn’t find a for sure match to the boy with him that day.

Scott Snyder I think so; sure looks like Louie. On another subject, I was thinking you and I might be related through my Snyder ancestors (Andrew Jackson & Nancy WILLIAMS SNYDER) but we are actually related through Richard & Elizabeth ROBERTS SHAY.

John C Wetzel Scott Snyder The age is about right, as my Pop, Lewie Glassmire, was born in 1928 & graduated in 1946; but I think he would have been blonder. Interestingly my Mom born in 1929 & graduated in 1947, is in the yearbook picture above (Edie Snyder) & they were high school sweethearts. John we met a few years ago @ Barb Fickinger’s.
