I have Rees and Gillespie (often misspelled many ways) in my tree. The two families came from Chester Co PA and were the first settlers in Reesville. Hoping to recognize some of my ancestors! Thanks for sharing.

Leo Bracelen Looking at some of these names this is local. (Austin and Homer township). Records show that some of them could have lived near M. Morris.

Thanks K. Leo Rees is an allied line but searching with a couple of the names I did come up with a Glaspy hit. PCHS should be able to help you as K says.

Could Alice Whitney Rees be the daughter or granddaughter of James & Margaret Younglove Rees?
James REES (Eli, Isaac, Thomas, Isaac, Thomas) was born 3-08-1822 in Ohio and died 12-06-1894.
James married Margaret YOUNGLOVE on 2-08-1866 in Potter County. Margaret was born 3-26-1836 in New York State.
One of their children was Alice, born 7-25-1871. On 6-08-1887, Alice married Alonzo REED, who was born on 9-20-1861; he died on 10-28-1893.
Alice died 5-14-1889 at the age of almost 18, apparently in childbirth, because their daughter Alice REED was born that same day.
Alice married Olen REES, son of William M. REES and Jennie REED, on 7-04-1907. Olen was born on 9-20-1882.
So Alice Rees Reed had a daughter, Alice Reed, who became Alice Rees after marrying Olen Rees.
Where does 'Whitney' come from?
41. Arthur S. REES (Thomas McCullough, Eli, Isaac, Thomas, Isaac, Thomas) a cousin, I believe, was born on 8-07-1852.
He ived in Odin at the time of his mother's death in 1899.
Arthur married Hattie WHITNEY on 7-04-1882. Hattie was born on 7-01-1865.
So Alice's parents, being younger than cousin Arthur, may have used Whitney as a family name.

You might want to send photos to the Potter County Historical Society at pottercohist@zitomedia.net. They would put them out where people who come in can check them out and identify people. Alyce Rees, I believe is the lady who ran the Christmas Shop here in town for many, many years. They have done genealogy on the Glaspy families. K
