FORTY YEARS AGO
June 25, 1886
O.L. Snyder and Mrs Ora Wasson were married yesterday.
Interesting... "O.L. Snyder and Mrs Ora Wasson were married." (apparently June 24, 1885) - as reprinted in the June 17, 1926 Port Allegany paper.
The O.L.Snyder (b. 1852 d. 1929) I've been tracking the ancestry of married Ora Lillibridge (b. 1858 d. 1943). I've yet to find the date of that marriage.
Oddly, despite the Lillibridge family being one of Port Allegany's founding families, the Lillibridge tree is rather poorly documented. So, whether the Ora mentioned is one and the same is yet to be discovered! And I wonder why the "Mrs" designation.
I know of no other O.L.Snyder from Port, but maybe someone else does, in which case, this is all coincidental.

Tina Johnson Daughenbaugh, I saw your basic tree on Ora Lillibridge in Ancestry... I started one for Ollie Snyder because my parents bought his homestead in Port Allegany. The attached shed was loaded with personal items. Wish I could go back in time and gather all of them up! I kept only a single item, a wardrobe steamer trunk that is marked "O.L.S." that also has a partial shipping label attached with "Port Allegany" and "Mrs O.L.Snyder" on the label. That tree is public at https://www.ancestry.com/family-tree/tree/111492878/family

Thanks Tim, I'm a member of WikiTree. I'll check it out. There's plenty of written info on the Lillibridge families, but just sparse info on Ancestry.

There is also a memorial on findagrave. I'll have to address a couple of issues there but it does show Ora Lillibridge and Ole Snyder.

Well, there is an Ora Wasson in 1880 Census living in Portville as teacher, along with a Charles W Wassonn at the same address, also a teacher. I have already found reference that Ora Snyder was a teacher in Port Allegany. So, bit by bit, this may come together!

John Christy Wetzel No newspaper was attached with that one post of yours... (I said 3 because you said 1886 was her second marriage. That means the 1888 marriage to Ollie was her 3rd).

The newspaper article refers to a marriage 24 June 1886 with "Mrs. Ora Wasson", which means that she had already been married; that's my reference. I was simply drawing attention to the date (1886 vs 1888) and to the fact that this was at least Ora's second marriage. That's all. Ole Lynn Snyder was my 1st cousin 4x removed. I'm very interested in this thread, because I don't have any info on his family past daughter Olga Snyder Squire; hoping to learn something... and thanking you for it now. ????
