I believe you have mistakenly connected Carrie (married to jesse Lyman) to your tree. you have her listed as the child of a Mr. L. M. Everett and his wife Alice.
Carrie was abandoned as an infant in Milton, Pa. She never knew who her parents were. Her foster father was a George Everett (Everitt) of Milton Pa. and she used that surname as her own. She was later fostered by the Lightcap family and Frankenfields.

Nothing was ever written down about Carrie. As were most women of her time, she was very adaptable, moving multiple times with her family until finally settling in Wayne County. After the death of her husband, however, she lived with her son Wendell, in New York and in Philadelphia. She was obviously a hard worker as there are several pictures of her helping with harvesting.
She seems to have been a very capable and independent woman, based on the tale of her going to Philadelphia to be with Jesse while he was building their daughter's house. She loved to travel and Grandmom told of her taking them all over Washington Dc and the Smithsonian. She seemed to have been a sociable person, and kept up correspondences with many people, saving cards and letters from them. She was involved with the ladies aide at the Bidwell Hill Methodist Church. She must have read the paper or at least kept up with all the local gossip as there is a journal, listing all the deaths of people in the Bidwell Hill area as well as some notable figures.
She seemed to have been very supportive of her husband, again following him as he did his jobs. She always noted their anniversary in her diaries after Jesse's death.
Her daughter said that it must have bothered her not knowing who her parents were and that her mother left her. Carrie seems to have felt that her mother may have come from a Wendell family from New York. Her "Death Journal" mentions their name.
Her foster mother, Itha, had three daughters, Marion, Elsie, and Irene. Marion had a daughter Itha. "Aunt Elsie" used to come and stay up at Eileen's. She always had a little rat terrier (or something that size) and had clothes that she dressed the dog in. I remember her as a "loud" person". Very outspoken, bright colors. She had reddish hair. She smoked, which in my mind at that time, made her sophisticated. She and Grandmom taught us to play canasta. We used to walk with her and the dog down the road to Helen Ferris's and back. )
I find no George Everitt in Potter County in 1870. I find 2 George Everett's in Northumberland County in 1870, which is where Lightcaps lived. One is in Milton but is married to an Ellen. (Interesting that Carrie's middle name is Ellen.) There are no boarders with them. This same George Everett is living in Milton in 1880 but his wife is now Louise (? Lorisa ) and she is 25. George has been unemployed for 2 months. He works on cars.
Carrie is found in 1880 census, living with a Henry and Catharine Lightcap who are both in their 70's. Henry is 77 and Catharine is 79. Carrie is 9 and listed as an adopted daughter. Living next door to them is Algernon and Josephine.
Carrie's death certificate verifies her date of birth. It shows she did not know her father's or her mother's names. Cause of death is myocardial insufficiency and senility. Her daughter was the informant. It shows she was born in Milton, Pa.
Her obituary from the Scranton Times: February 28, 1958 reads: Carrie E. Lyman Dies; Rites Sunday
Mrs. Carrie E. Lyman, 87 died yesterday at her home, Lake Ariel RD 1 after an illness of several weeks. She was the former Carrie Ellen Everett She was born in Milton, Pa., Nov. 9, 1870, and moved to Wayne County in 1904. Her husband, Jesse Lyman, died in 1935. She is survived by a daughter, Mrs. Dorothy Wilke, Philadelphia, one grandchild and four great-children. The funeral will be Sunday at 1:30 P.M. form the Cook Funeral Home, Lake Ariel, with the Rev. William Gritman, pastor of the Lake Ariel Methodist Church, officiating. Burial Hamlin Cemetery. Friends may call tomorrow afternoon and evening.

She was also known as Muddy, although Jesse always called her "Kitty", hence the name on her headstone.
We do not know who Carrie's parents were. Supposedly her mother was boarding at the home of George (Oct 26, 1833) and Larissa Everett (27 Dec 1854), in Potter County. Her mother left her there, along with a trunk of very expensive clothes. Mr. Everett placed her in the care of the Lightcaps. He didn't want to leave her in the care of those "big Lyman" boys. Mr. Everett eventually left his family for the gold fields in California during the gold rush. (writer's note: I was told the California gold rush by my grandmother but I suspect a mistake was made as Carrie was born in 1870. The first California gold rush was in 1848. The Yukon gold rush was in the 1890's. I suspect she meant the Yukon rush. It should also be noted that the Lymans did not leave Potter County the first time until 1871 when they move to Muncy, Pa. Then they moved to Milton.) By 1880, Carrie was already living with Henry Lightcap and is listed as adopted.
I have found a will for a George Everitt, of Milton, Pa., who died in 1897. He leaves "his adopted daughter, Mrs Carrie Lyman", $20 ...".
Carrie was eventually raised by Algernon and Jospehine Lightcap. Itha, Carrie's "adopted" sister, was born in 1883, when Carrie was 12. Itha later married a Harper Frankenfield and moved to Philadelphia. When Carrie's daughter, Dorothy, finished 8th grade and went to business school in Philadelphia, she lived with the Frankenfields. Itha had three daughters, Marion, Elsie, Irene. Marion had a daughter Itha. "Aunt Elsie" used to come and stay up at Eileen's.

Olson is my married name, but am now divorced. my husband is from Nebraska, His great great grandfather came from sweden in 1878. All of his olson's are in the midwest. Thomas Benton Lyman, grandson of Major Isaac Lyman and Patience Mann, left Potter County in the late 1800's He and 2 of his sons settled in Wayne county, Pa, near the town of Hamlin, which is where I was raised, although both my parents came from Philly.

I grew up in Coudersport, one of 5 kids of Edwin and Merlyn SPRING WETZEL. Mom died 18 years ago but our dad still lives there, in the same house in which I grew up.
My mother's mother grew up in Hebron, near Coudersport, with a heritage deep in Potter County history... SNYDER, DINGMAN, BARR, BROCK, EDWARDS, HOLLENBECK, WILLIAMS/ALESWORTH...
I spend a lot of time on documentation and sourcing; sounds like you know what I mean. I would love to have access to your tree and to the documentation you mention.

My family on y grandmothers side are Lyman's, descendants of Major Isaac Lyman....we have deep roots in Coudersport, and we visited there several summers when i was a child.

i can invite you to my tree, which is private. I have several in laws listed on it as well as my ex's family nad they didn't want the info public. if you send me either your username (it doesn't take john wetzel) or an email i can invite you.
My information is based on the fact that Carrie is my great grandmother. I heard her story from my grandmother, her daughter. Her foster father's will, (George Everitt) lists her as an adopted daughter, although i've never got around to actually looking for adoption or official paperwork showing her as the foster child of the lightcaps.
Most of the information i have on ancestry has been found there, except for the pictures, death certificate and marriage certificate. It just verifies the stories i was told.
if you give me an email, i can send you my notes as well, which are too long to place here.

I suspect you have inside info, which can be invaluable.
It is true that she is not in my direct tree, but my research paints with a broad brush, mainly to be able to respond to DNA connections. Carrie is a cousin of a 4th great aunt of mine (see what I mean?)
I am researching Carrie now, for more detail; I really appreciate your reaching out to help me correct my tree. I need some documentation to support it, if possible.
