Aged Woman Dead
Mrs Albert colcord, Mother of Dr. J.B. Colcord Laid aat Rest
Died in Eulalia township, near Inez, Saturday, December 30th, 1905, Elizabeth (Shearer) colcord, in the 66th year of her age. Funeral services were conducted at the residence by Rev. I.H. Stetler, pastor of the Coudersport Lutheran church, and interment was in Homer cemetery on Monday afternoon, Jan. 1st in the presence of a large concourse of mourning relatives and neighbors.
Deceased was marrried to Albert Colcord, at Bath, NY, in 1860. They moved to this State in 1868 in company with John Shearer, her father, and purchased the farm home where "Aunt Betsy," as everyone loved to call her, lived to rear a family of four, two sturdy boys now prosperous men; two healthy and intelligent girls now grown to mature womanhood. To these and her equally industrious and faithful husband as well as to an aged and helpless father, she devoted a life so unselfish, so tireless in its toil for others that to "rise up and call her blessed!" was the natural tribute to such a daughter, wife and mother. At her table was always a welcome for friend or stranger; in her heart was no guile and iniquity found.
She leaves to survive her and mourn a now broken home, besides a husband,
- J. B. Colcord of Port Allegany,
- John S. Colcord whose farm adjoins the homestead,
- Mrs. Sue LeCompt of Coudersport, and
- Iva Austin of University Place, Nebraska.
Altho in broken health for several years, Mrs. Colcord presided over her household with what vigor she could and her death was quite sudden, from heart disease. Nearly all the family was at the bedside of the deceased to bid farewell to a wife and mother ready and willing to enter into her rewared.
