	Obituary Died December, 13th, 1905, Eva Maxson of OEleina of the throat, aged 7 years, 5 months and 18 days, daughter of Irvin and Grace Maxson of State Line Mills, Pa. ... 20190120HAv https://jfgvictoryverlag.com/eldred/bullismills.html Mill after which Bullis Mills was named In the 1870s, when lumber was the major industry along the Allegheny River, Charles A. Bullis (1836-1917) and Spencer S. Bullis (1849-1928) built the mill seen below at Bullis Mills. Later the mill was taken over by A. W. Georgia and Jewel Aylesworth. While Bullis brothers owned the mill there were two general stores, a church, school and a tavern at Bullis Mills. Hiram Ault and Bullis brothers operated the tavern. The population of the village peaked at about 1,000. After Aylesworth and Georgia took over the mill, Willis Z. Georgia bought the store and continued the business. He also was telegraph operator for the Pennsylvania Railroad and postmaster. About 1909 Willis Georgia bought out the Eldred High Explosive Company and moved to Olean, where he later became mayor of the city. The Pittsburgh, Shawmut & Northern built their railroad through Bullis Mills at State Line Mills in the spring of 1909.

Mr. and Mrs. Ernest W. Maxson, Little Genesee, N.Y. RD, announce the engagement of their daughter, Miss Grace Marie Maxson, to John William Titus, son of Mr. and Mrs. William Titus of Bradford.
Miss Maxson is a graduate of Oswayo Valley High School and the Bradford School of Practical Nursing. She is employed at Shadyside Hospital in Pittsburgh.
Mr. Titus is a graduate of Bradford High School and St. Bonaventure University. He is employed by Westinghouse at Trafford.

Sandra Elaine Maxson Froebel

OLEAN - Sandra Elaine Maxson Froebel, born in 1939 in Ceres Township, passed away peacefully in Gainesville, Ga., surrounded by loved ones, on April 11, 2023, due to complications from Parkinson's Disease.

Sandy was the second of Ernest and Ferne Maxson's eight children. On June 15, 1963, in Bradford, Pa., at the Bradford Methodist Church, she married her loving husband of 56 years, Albert Eugene "Gene" Froebel, who predeceased her in 2019.

Sandy spent her childhood years on the family farm in Shinglehouse, Pa., where she attended Oswayo Valley Central School. After graduation, Sandy earned her B.S in education from Mansfield University. She continued her education at St. Bonaventure University, obtaining her M.S in reading.

Sandra pursued a career in education teaching in Bradford area schools, Olean public schools and the Cuba-Rushford dchool district. She was highly motivated by helping students who needed extra help. On one occasion she taught herself Mandarin Chinese to help a student with English as a second language.

In the 1980s, Sandy beat breast cancer and went on to council other women facing similar challenges and led a full life.

Raising three boys and having a husband who was a PE teacher and coach, Sandy was a fierce competitor who enjoyed playing cards, golfing, bike riding, walking and, in retirement, became a champion shuffleboard player. Sandy also enjoyed gardening and spending time with her family & friends.

She is survived by her three sons, Brian (Denise) Froebel of Lakeland, Fla., Eric (Melissa) Froebel of Suwanee, Ga. and Curtis (Michelle) Froebel of Alden; as well as 10 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. She is survived by three siblings, Barb Adams, Grace Titus and Ernest "Lee" Maxson.

She was pre-deceased by four siblings, Erwin "Dan" Maxson, Donald Maxson, Michael Maxson and Ferne Maxson Carroll.

A celebration of life will be held from 5 to 6 p.m. Tuesday (Aug. 1, 2023) at Hillside Wesleyan Church, 753 Prospect Ave., Olean, at which time a memorial service will be held, where the Pastor Dan Todd will officiate. Burial will be in Maple Grove Cemetery in Shinglehouse. All are welcome to attend.

At Sandy's request and in lieu of flowers, we ask that donations be made to The Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson's Research (https://www.michaeljfox.org/) in Sandy's name.
Arrangements are under the direction of the Letro-McIntosh-Spink Funeral Home, Inc., 646 E. State St., Olean.

TERRY D. PROOF, 31, of 308 Lea St., Munhall (Allegheny County), PA died unexpectedly Friday afternoon near (1988) Lake Tocojo in Spring Hill in Tuscarora Twp., Bradford County. He was born April 13, 1957 in Sayre, PA, son of Donald and Helen Owen Proof. He was employed as a sheet metal foreman with the McQuillan Brothers Steel Co. in Pittsburgh, PA. He has been a resident of the Pittsburgh area for the last 10 ½ years.
Surviving are his wife Vida Fern Proof;
three children, Terry Scott Proof, Michelle Proof and Danielle Proof, all at home;
parents, Mr. and Mrs. Donald and Helen Owens Proof of Wyalusing RD 1 (Spring Hill);
three brothers: Donald Proof of Rushville, Timothy Proof of Camptown and Lawrence at home;
four sisters: Mrs. Lori Pelton of Montrose, Miss Joni Proof of Scranton, Miss Jodi Proof at home and Mrs. Charlene Clingerman of Towanda.
A private memorial service will be held Sunday at 3 p.m. in the Kenneth D. Kerr Funeral Home, 106 Church St., Wyalusing, PA with the Rev. Philip Wanck, pastor of United Methodist Church of Wyalusing officiating. -Towanda Daily Review
