“John Potter Dies at Home; 84 Years Old
Funeral services were conducted Wednesday for Mr. John Delette Potter, Scio, well known farmer and musician. He had been in ill health for about six months.
Mr. Potter was born in the Town of Independence in 1864, the son of Theodore F. and Lucinda Neal Potter.
He was married in 1880 to Carrie Barney, who succumbed in 1933.
He is survived by
one son, L. F. Potter, Scio,
one daughter, Mrs. Rita Potter Seger, Genesee, Pa.;
three grandchildren and eight great grandchildren.
Mr. Potter was a member of the Scio Methodist Church and the Lewisville Lodge 556, F.&A.M., at Ulysses. He played with the Scio band for a number of years.”

"Mrs. J. Delette Potter, aged 67 years, died at her farm home near Scio, Monday.
She was born in Shongo, daughter of Dr. Orville L. and Thankful Darling Barney.
For several years the family lived on a farm above Payneville, later going to Genesee.
- A daughter Mrs. Seger of Genesee and
- a son L. F. Potter of Scio,
with the husband, survive.
Funeral was yesterday Wednesday and burial in Scio cemetery."
