It's kinda cool that Kidney sat next to Head. It must have been the body parts section of the row.

I remember stories about the athletic skills of "Clydie "Austin....Dutch Huntington had his ear almost torn off....got stitched up at halftime...and went back to the game. His son George confirmed that story. Another early Coudy gridder... Art Menschel......gave my Dad his football "helmet"...it was one of those early "dog ear" folding leather models. I think dad gave it to the Potter County Historical Society when Bob Currin was in charge. Cool stuff!

I wonder if no 7 is Billy Benn, well known WWII pilot who perfected low altitude bombing. He was killed in New Guinea in 1943. He was a major in the 5 th Air Force. I've read articles about him and they list him from Coudersport, Williamsport, and Phila area graduating from Temple. My Dad often spoke of him.

Thanks so much for posting, Paul Lynn Gardner Your vignettes in the past bring life to genealogy and simple civil interest. Awesome post and comments, fascinating! Dutch Huntington! Who was Brock, anybody know?

It wouldn't suprise me if Brock was the gentleman who owned Brock's metal scrap yard. The office was on Chestnut Street and the scrap yard was located close the the old Round House. I remember the Brock home was on North Main Street.

My 3rd/4th grgrandparents were Brock; I thought he might be related, so of course, I've been back at the genealogy table. Norm's parents were from Russia, so I guess I can forget that one. I am curious, though, if I'm related to Chuckie Runyon; John was my 5th grgrandfather, and Nancy RUNYON STAFFORD was my 4th grgrandmother...
