FLOWERS 3
Son of Joseph Elliott Jr. and Desire Burrows..
Married (1)Betsy Page(1779-1824) 8-10 children..
Married (2)Esther Lucina (Page??)..
Esther was a Sister-in-law or cousin of Betsy's and moved in to help Ittai raise his children...
Esther does not come down as a very nice person or step-mother at all..Hodges family records are quite firm on this..
Some place further back (Ill. records) Betsy and Esther Lucina were combined into one person and all of the children are connected to Esther Lucina...
After Esther Lucina's death in 1858..Ittai moved to Alma NY with his oldest son Jared Page (after Betsy's Father)..
He died there..
Family records say he died in West Almond and is buried there in a lost cemetery but Esther Lucina's monument is known and he probably should of been placed there..It is most likely he was buried on the large Elliott lot(s) and the grave is unmarked or the stone has been lost..
His son, Jared Page, and the two oldest Grandsons and their families are also buried on the same lot...
When Ittai died he was found in his rocker and the family thought he was smoking his pipe when in actuallity he passed in his sleep and lit his beard on fire (one of many stories passed down from my Grandfather)
His Mother taught him word association so he was able to remember.
Ittai was born around the Ides of March...

Hi Christine. Lorenzo Hodges and his brother served in company G of the 150th Pennsylvania alongside my great great grandfather, Herman Leroy Burlingame, who was also a member of that skirmisher company. HL Burlingame was also wounded on July 1st at Gettysburg. He was shot in the leg during the regiments retreat back into Gettysburg and was harbored for 3 days at the home of Henry Jacobs at Washington and Middle Street in Gettysburg. On July 3rd he was found in the house when Georgia soldiers conducted a search. HL was captured and transported to Libby prison in Richmond Virginia. He was released in a prisoner exchange in October 1863 and he returned to McKean County where he built a farm in Kasson PA

Cyrus Valentine, 1007 Chestnut avenue, Altoona, PA, says that just after the battle of Gettysburg a young lady, who has since married and is now Mrs Mary E. Walters of 9163 Third avenue, Altoona, PA, visited the field to minister to the wounded. Lorenzo Rogers(Hodges), who Mrs Walters thinks belonged to a Pennsylvania regiment, was lying in a corn-crib on the farm of Edward McPherson, wounded unto death. He gave to the lady a tintype picture of his wife, daughter and babe. She will be glad to return it to the widow or any friend of Mr. Rogers(Hodges).

After working with a researcher for several months, we believed that this was my 2 X's ggrandfather, Lorenzo Hodges. He was shot 3 times, so was probably not able to make his last name of Hodges clearly understood to this nurse & it sounded more like Rogers! There's no way to know if she was ever able to return this tintype to his widow, Rosetta. Thanks Lanny for sharing this!
