Mary R. Morris "Loving wife, mother, grandmother"
Mary R. Morris, 90, of Olean, formerly of Shinglehouse,Pa passed away Sunday, March 8, 2015 in The Pines Health & Rehabilitation Center, Olean, after a long illness.
Born Feb 12, 1925 in Rogersville, Pa, she was a daughter of Delbert R and Mary E Hostuttler Thomas.
On Feb 25, 1942 in Coudersport, Pa she married Harold J. Morris, who passed away on Jan 7, 2010.
Mary attended Shinglehouse High School,
She was employed at the former Shingehouse Elementary School for four years.
Mrs Morris attended the Shinglehouse United Methodist Church, was a member of the Oswayo Valley Senior Center in Shinglehosue and a was a life member of Shinglehouse American Legion Ladies Auxiliary. She was also a member of the quilting club in Shinglehouse. She enjoyed cooking, baking sewing and crocheting.
Surviving area
- son Jerry K ( Evelyn) Morris of Whitesville;
two daughters,
- Sharon E (Ted) Seamans of Williamsville and
- Judy C (Mark) Shaw of Olean;
five grandchildren; five great grandchildren; a great-great grandson;
- a sister Elizabeth (Donald ) King of Weidman, Michigan;
two sisiter in laws,
- Carol Thomas of Shinglehouse and
- Mary Thomaas of Maple Ripids, Michigan
and several niecea and nephews.
In addition to her parents and husband, Mary was predeceased by
two brothers
- Charles K Thomas and
- Kenneth C Thomas.
Friends may call from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Tuesday and from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. on Wednesday, March 11, 2015 at the Virgil L. Howard Funeral Home, 118 South Union Street, Shinglehouse, where funeral services will follow at 11 a.m. with Rev. Becky L. Edwards, pastor of the Shinglehouse United Methodist Church, officiating.
- Burial will be in The Maple Grove Cemetery, Shinglehouse.
Flowers are gratefully declined and will be provided by the family. Memeorials may be made to Osawyo Valley Senio Center, PO Box 671, Shinglehouse, Pa 16748 or to the Shinglehouse Volunteer Ambulance Association, PO Box 98, Shinglheouse, Pa 16748
