Chris, you are correct. I remember hearing it called the Phelps Garage, and that would have been long after the original owner died. At one time, it was called the Potter County Garage. (I have the impression that John Rigas paid to have the structure demolished. By that time it was an eyesore.)
Attached is the obituary of
- William E. Phelps (1871-1928).
- His widow is Matilda A. Tuttle (1873-1937).
- Her sister Rebecca L. Tuttle (1884-1948) was married to my grand uncle Fredrick M. “Fred” Mitchell (1880-1940).

MRS. MATILDA PHELPS
Mrs. Matilda Tuttle Phelps of Coudersport passed away early yesterday morning at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Joseph Haskins, in Roulette after being seriously ill from complications.
She was born at Sweden Valley June 11, 1873, the daughter of John and Josephine Brace Tuttle.
Mrs. Phelps was married to Mr. Taylor in early life, and two children,
- Mrs. Ocie Heinmeyer of Irving- ton, N. J., and
- Mrs. Lillian Haskins of Roulette,
were born to this union. In the year 1916 she was married to William Phelps at Emporium, who passed away several years ago. During her life she had lived at Sweden Valley, Emporium and Coudersport.
Besides the two children, Mrs. Phelps is survived by
- a sister, Mrs. Rebecca Mitchell of Genesee,
and several grandchildren.
She was a member of the Sweden Valley Methodist Church.
The funeral will be held at 2:00 o'clock Friday (tomorrow) afternoon at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Haskins with Louis Summers of Roulette officiating.
- Burial will be made in Eulalia Cemetery.

Edd Rion, A State Highway Em ployee, Badly Injured When Large Truck Ran Over Feet.
Lymansville, May 3. -- Edd Rion, who works on the state highway, was quite badly injured Monday when one of the large trucks ran over his feet.
Steve Rooke and family have moved to their new home In Sweden Valley.
The new service station being built by G. J. Pfuntner is under way.
Lew Bush, who has been night warden at the county home for some time, has resigned that office and returned to his home in Sunderlinville last Friday.
Mr. and Mrs. Claud Mahon and friend of Pittsburgh have been visiting at the home of George Mahon and enjoying fishing over the week end.
Mr. and Mrs. Guy Mitchell and daughter, Madge Marie, and Mr. and Mrs. A. R. Mitchell were In Mansfield Sunday.
Mrs. Mary Hoyt, Mrs. Frona Corsaw, and Mrs. Emma Mitchell attended the funeral of Mrs. William Phelps at Roulette last Friday.
Mrs. Cleo Leitch called at the county home Thursday afternoon.
Miss Violet Bird, who has been helping Mrs. Lillian Mitchell, returned to her home at Sweden Valley Saturday.

We command you, Jones Taylor, that setting aside all other business and excuses whatsoever, you be and appear in your proper person, before the judge at Coudersport at the Court of Common Pleas, there to be held for the county of Potter on Monday, June 12th, 1916 to answer the petition of libel of Matilda A. Taylor and to show cause if any you have, why the said Matilda Taylor, your wife should not be divorced from the bonds of matrimony agreeably to the acts of assembly in said cases made and provided.
