Lenora M. "Sis" Herbstritt Frum, 82, formerly of 1679 West 45th St. in Erie, died Friday, September 13, 2013, at her residence.
She was born in St. Marys, Pa., on November 22, 1930, daughter of the late Francis and Helen McGill Herbstritt.
She was a direct descendant of the pioneer Herbstritt family that migrated from southern German to establish St. Marys in 1842 and who then served in the American Civil War. She was a dedicated homemaker who raised her children to work hard and respect the rights of all people.
She was previously employed at Panos for many years and was highly regarded by all. She was an avid reader who enjoyed history, gardening, and cooking for her family.
She was preceeded in death by
- her former husband, Robert Frum, in 2009; and
- one brother, James, in 2012.
Survivors include
- her twin brother, Lawrence of Norristown, Pa.;
two daughters,
- Linda Gaerttner Stoops of Erie, and
- Dianne of Sandusky, Ohio;
- two sons, Robert and Jeffery of Erie;
- one grandson, Gerald Gaerttner Jr. of Erie; and
- one granddaughter, Alessandra Frum of Florence, Italy.
No calling hours or services will be observed. Arrangements were handled by Brugger Funeral Homes and Crematory, 1595 West 38th Street. In accordance with her love of animals, memorials may be made to the Anna Shelter, 1555 E. 10th St., Erie, PA 16511. Condolences and photos may be sent at www.bruggerfuneralhomes.com.
