Sgt. Almon H. Dingman
Sgt. lc Almon H. Dingman, 34, with the Special Forces Green Beret in the Panama Canal Zone, died Monday (Sept. 27, 1971) as a result of injuries received in a motorcycle accident.
Born March 14, 1937 at Olean, N.Y., he was a son of Isaac and Eleanor Palmatier Dingman, Myrtle. He was married July 14, 1958 in Berlin, Germany to the former Rosemarie Gollosch, who survives.
He was graduated from Oswayo Valley High School in 1955. He entered the Army in October in 1955, and had two tours of duty in Vietnam.
Besides his wife and parents, he is survived by
two sons,
- Henry Dingman and
- Patrick Dingman, and
- a daughter, Mary Lou, all at home;
two sisters,
- Mrs. Roger (Rosanne) Wilson, Myrtle;
- Mrs. John (Dorothy) Harper, Montoursville;
two brothers,
- James Dingman, Myrtle; and
- Michael Dingman, with the Naval Air Station, Oceanna, Va.;
- paternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Harry Palmatier Sr., Coudersport,
and several nieces, nephews, aunts and uncles.
A funeral service was held at 2:30 p.m. Sunday from the Howard Funeral Home, Shinglehouse, with the Rev. M.H. Vincent, pastor of the Ulysses Baptist Church, officiating. Full military services were conducted at the graveside by the Army.
- Interment was in Crandall Hill Cemetery.
Mrs. Elmer Walden
... illness of three months.
Born in Inez, Sept. 26, 1884, she was a daughter of Orange and Jessie Crosby Hall. She was married to Ben Haskins. On June 3, 1941 in Coudersport, she was married to Elmer Walden, who survives.
Mrs. Walden spent most of her life in Coudersport, except for a short period when she made her home in Weedville and Sinnemahoning. She was a former schoolteacher, a member of Coudersport Free Methodist Church and a member of the Women's Christian Temperance Union.
Besides her husband, she is survived by
a son, Duane Haskins, Niagara Falls, N.Y.;
two daughters, Mrs. Jesse Gould, Williamsport;
Mrs. Samuel (Orrel) Wheeler, Aspinwall;
seven grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren;
two step-daughters, Mrs. Walter (Edna) Coy, Wellsville, N.Y.; and
Miss Reva Walden, Corning, N.Y.;
a stepson, Arnold Walden, Columbia Crossroads;
seven step-grandchildren, 27 step-great grandchildren;
a brother, Malcolm Hall, Eugene, Ore.,
and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held Saturday at 2:00 p.m. from the Grabe-Fickinger Funeral Home with the Rev. Elmer C. Reagle, pastor of Coudersport Free Methodist Church, officiating. Interment was in Homer Cemetery, Inez.
Pallbearers were: Reuben Russell Sr., Richard Russell, Karl Grupp, Frank Woodcock, Lawrence Criss, and Melvin Rankin.
