Benjamin accepted the wonderful offer. Others who did the same and settled in, or near, Roulet, were: - John and Burrel Lyman - Ransom Beckwith, - Jacob, Samuel, & Truman Streeter. In the spring of 1810, Benjamin came without his family to the present site of Burtville, built a log cabin, cleared some land, raised some potatoes and corn which he stored in a granary made from split pine logs, and in the fall, returned to his home near Elmira.
