If we lived them I'm pretty sure I worked like a machine in one of these camps. They were only 1 or 2 maybe 3 generations in from the early settlers (does that sound right?). Hard core those people. Did they bring workers from Ireland? 1Like · Reply · 2w Ric Main There was a great depression early 1890's and an influx of families coming into the area; to harvest the pine/hemlock, that I have tracked from Chemung, Tioga, Broome Counties of NY at that time. There was rail service into Wellsville and Genesee as well as Harrison Valley and Galeton.
