Levi and Nancy (Elswick) Clevenger
Nancy Elswick and Levi Clevenger were the parents of Susannah Clevenger, Edmond Murphy's first wife and the mother of Alexander.
Here is the info on Nancy according to the book "The Clevenger Families of Kentucky and their Descendants" by Sarah Clevenger
"The Tug Fork of the Big Sandy River forms the state line between KY and VA(WV) and apparently the Clevengers lived close to this area--perhaps near the river. The Clines, in general, seemed to have stayed on the West Virginia side of the Tug River while the Clevengers moved to the Kentucky side of the Tug River. According to the Cline tradition, Nancy Elswick was a healer and a witch--the good kind of witch. Hunters requested her blessing before they went hunting."
According to the book a Joseph Elswick, most likely brother to Nancy, was a healer and an herbalist as well.
