Sarah Theresa Straley was the oldest of four children born 22 Feb 1911 in Galeton, PA,
daughter of Fredrick Jacob Straley and Nellie Mable Tomb,
granddaughter of Theresa Charolette Kortz and Christian Fredrick Straley,
great granddaughter of Jacob Kortz and Katherine Pflugfelder.
She married Harry William Succowich.
They had two children:
- Ruth Antoinette Succowich Yilek and
- William Harry Succowich.
Both were born in Elmira, NY. Theresa Succowich died 08 May 1965 in Coudersport.

So, did Theresa marry Harry William or William Harry? And their son was William Harry or Harry William? Junior? Thx so much for this background information. I too had several of these teachers; 60 years later they become so much more... like people with their own lives, not just authority figures.

Jane Heimel Metzger thank you! I’m finding, I’m confusing some of the ‘Miss’ and ‘Mrs’(!) Do you happen to know who her parents were? Or anything about her family? Sarah Hollenbeck EDWARDS BARR was my 4th grgrandmother and I can’t find much about that branch, including possible cousins coming forward.

Testimonial Dinner For Grover, Carley
Nearly 140 persons gathered at the Golf Club Wednesday night to pay tribute to Arlton G. Grover, supervising principal the past 17 years of the Coudersport School District, and Mildred Carley, a long-time teacher in the elementary school.
Guests were school district board members, employees, their spouses, and retired teachers Nina Olmstead Morley, Angeline Edwards, Stella Austin, Lena Haskins and M. O. Braun, who was master of ceremonies for the dinner.
Among the speakers were Burton Shirey, high school principal; Frederic Anderson, elementary school principal; Clifford Carts, school board president, and Earl Brown, for the teachers Association.
The honored guests were presented a variety of gifts. Mr. Grover received a one-year membership in the club, a gold engraved wrist watch, an old golf club (to give other teachers an advantage when they play golf with him) and cards designed by the art teacher in each school and signed by the teachers.

James W. Wilkinson, son of Mr. and Mrs. Lewis Wilkinson, Coudersport, will receive his baccalaureate degree in secondary education at the 95th annual commencement exercises to be held Sunday at Lock Haven State College.
Dr. Francis N. Hamblin, president of the college, will confer degrees on 319 students at 2:30 p.m. that day in Thomas Field House.
Correction!
The name of David Lent was omitted from the list of members of the Coudersport High School National Honor Society in last week's Enterprise. David was attending a 4-H council in Harrisburg and was unable to be present when the picture was taken.
He is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Frank N. Lent.
Arthur Metzger To Graduate At St. Bona's
Arthur E. Metzger Jr., son of Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Metzger of Tobyhanna, Pa., is a candidate for the bachelors degree in business administration, management, during St. Bonaventure University's commencement exercises May 28. His wife, Jane Heimel Metzger, is formerly of Coudersport.
Presidential advisor Daniel P. Moynihan will be the principal speaker and he and Cornelia Otis Skinner will be awarded honorary doctors' degrees.
The university will confer about 100 graduates and 480 undergraduate degrees in ceremonies at 3:00 p.m. in the University Center.
Ruth M. Carpenter To Receive BS Degree
Bloomsburg Sate College will confer, pending completion of all requirements, the bachelor of science degree in secretarial upon Ruth Margaret Carpenter, Ulysses, during commencement exercises which will be held Sunday, at 2:30 p.m. at the Bloomsburg Fair Gounds. Miss Carpenter is a 1968 graduate of Northern Potter High School.

the last meeting were read and approved. Old business included the buying of 4-H jackets which was dropped and the dance June 9 for which Mark LTD will play, proceeds will go to the club's treasury. The committee for the dance will meet at Barkers on May 26. New business was the discussion of our trip which will be to Doebler's Field Days this year. It will be discussed further at the next meeting. Officers were reminded of the Officers Training Meet which is to be at Coudersport Elementary School on June 5 at 7:30. The next meeting which is for judging and showing will be at Curriers on June 23. A weiner roast, will follow.
