One, born 1800, 80 yrs old in the 1880 census, living with his daughter Mary Sheldon, husband G.W.Sheldon in Eulalia. Is he the one? about an hour ago No. My Solomon Snyder was married to Hannah Stein. They're my 3rd great grandparents and also the 3rd great grandparents of Charlie Cole, Nancy Baker and her sisters Melody Baker and Julie Baker. They had a son named Solomon as well. Their son, David Snyder is my 2nd great grandfather. He married Laura Chase. They're buried in the Sweden Hill cemetery. Laura Chase was the daughter of Johnson Chase and Sarah Roberts.

He shows up on 23andMe, Ancestry.com DNA and Gedmatch.com as my 4th cousin, which he is being that he and I have the same 3rd great grandparents, Johnson & Sarah Chase. In my research on our, your and my, shared ancestors, Peter & Rebecca Roberts, I found that they moved from New Jersey to Tioga county, PA. After a few years of living there, his son, John and one of this other sons, moved up to Livingston county, NY, to an area Peter had once visited while part of the Sullivan Expedition. Peter and his family followed. I think this is where Sarah was born to John's son, Samuel. Livingston County, NY, where Shays, Roberts et al. come through. Thx. It was John Roberts who named the town in Livingston county, "Springwater"

I'll sort this out later today. Do you use genealogy software? I use FAmily Tree Maker by Ancestry.com and did the FTDNA, which I just got for my whole family, literally swabbing last night. Thanks for your lineage, I'll lay mine out for you later. I started with 23andMe and discovered by DNA composition, which was a bit of a surprise, with some Jewish ancestry. That made me very curious, so I got an account with Ancestry.com to see if I could find who the Jews were in my family tree. I'm still trying to solve that puzzle but in the process discovered way more about my ancestors than I ever imagined possible

Their children were Laura Ann Chase, Delilah R Chase, Miles T Chase, Amanda E Chase & Clark Crum Chase. John Reinhold Sr and John Christy Wetzel will also be familiar with Johnson's illustrious ancestry, especially Mr Reinhold. Most will be surprised that in addition to his Chase ancestors, Benjamin, Jacob, Ebenezer, Jacob, John, Aquila II and Aquila I, there are three repetitions of Sargent, Davis and Perkins ancestors. Other than the Chase, Y-DNA, Johnson Chase's autosomal DNA would have been dominated by these other three families. Johnson's parents were Benjamin and Abigail Mason Chase. Benjamin's parents were Jacob & Constance Sanders Chase - Jacob's parents were Ebenezer & Hepzibah Sargent and Constance's parents were Benjamin Sanders & Mary Davis - In the ancestry of these Chase, Sargent, Sanders & Davis ancestors all have these husband and wife ancestors - James Davis m. Cicely Thayer (appearing 5 times), William Sargent m. Elizabeth Perkins (appearing 3 times) For this post I will focus on William Sargent and his wife Elizabeth Perkins, both of whom provide us with some astounding stories and distant cousins. These three screen shots of Johnson Chase's family tree are great visual examples of “ancestral repetition”. Johnson was a distant cousin to himself. Our cousin, John Reinhold Srhas thoroughly researched the Perkins family of which we are also descendants from because his mother was Lois Irene Perkins. Her father was from Raymond, Potter County, PA. The current Barnett farms near Raymond were once Perkins farms. John has traced his Perkins ancestors back to our Perkins ancestors, the parents of Elizabeth Perkins, John & Judith Gator Perkins of Hillmorton, Warwickshire, England. As I mentioned earlier, John Reinhold Sr, also shares our Johnson Chase lineage back to John & Judith Gator Perkins. There's an interesting story about Elizabeth's sister, Mary, who married Thomas Bradbury. Mary and Thomas are ancestors of Ralph Waldo Emerson and author, Ray Bradbury. Like · Reply · 1 hr Larry Herbstritt Larry Herbstritt In the notorious witch trials of 1692, Mary Bradbury was indicted for (among other charges): "Certaine Detestable arts called Witchcraft & Sorceries Wickedly Mallitiously and felloniously hath used practiced and Exercised At and in the Township of Andivor in the County of Essex aforesaid in upon & against one Timothy Swann of Andivor In the County aforesaid Husbandman -- by which said Wicked Acts the said Timothy Swann upon the 26th day of July Aforesaid and divers other days & times both before and after was and is Tortured Afflicted Consumed Pined Wasted and Tormented..." Witnesses testified that she assumed animal forms; her most unusual metamorphosis was said to have been that of a blue boar. Another allegation was that she cast spells upon ships. Over a hundred of her neighbors and townspeople testified on her behalf, but to no avail and she was found guilty of practicing magic and sentenced to be executed. Through the ongoing efforts of her friends, her execution was delayed. After the witch debacle had passed, she was released. By some accounts she was allowed to escape. Others claim she bribed her jailer. Another account claims that her husband bribed the jailer and took her away to Maine in a horse and cart. They returned to Massachusetts after the witch hysteria had died down. Mary Bradbury died of natural causes in her own bed in 1700, aged 85. Her family friend, and her son-in-law's father, Major Robert Pike, was in command of all the forces of Norfolk County, Massachusetts Bay Colony and those located in present-day Maine. As early as 1650 he was what would now be called a trial justice and in 1672 an associate judge of the courts of Norfolk Co. After struggling to read it I found it very interesting. These were my 2nd great grandparents on my mother's side. I am also uploading as clear a copy as I can make of the original letter. _______________________ Willing [illegible] 18th 1853[?] I now attempt to write a few lines to you to congratulate you upon your safe arrival at your parents fireside in whose sosiety [sic] you must necessarily enjoy perfect peace and happiness [?]. But you may be somewhat surprised at my presumption on so short an acquaintance but nevertheless being prompted by pure motives I have the boldness to solicit your further acquaintance hoping thereby to promote or procure that happiness which kindred spirits find in each others society. Should [it be] agreeable to you (and if it would not interfere with any previous engagements) I would like to make you a visit soon, as soon as circumstances will permit. You will allow me to say your presence at your sister's has awakened sensations to which I have hitherto been a stranger and since your absence has only increased. Will you write me an answer to this and addresss it to willing PO Allegany Co as soon as convenient. Please excuse all mistakes as I write in a hurry behind the counter in a Wellsville store by the permission and politeness of a Mr. Abbott after being heavily drenched in a severe rain storm.
