My four brothers and sisters and I grew up three houses from "Dr. Herm" and three blocks from "Dr. George". In those wonderful days of playing outside as long as possible eVery day of every season and without helicopter parents hovering, we accumulated a good no. of bruises, breaks, and bumps that required medical attention. Go to the ER? No. Call for an appt? No again. Rather, my mom or dad scooped us up and ran us on foot to either doc who fixed us up and sent us back outside for our next game of whiffle ball or kick the can. Thank you, Mosch brothers, for keeping us outside that much longer. ??

It was wonderful how all of us neighborhood kids played together all the time. We might have our feelings hurt one day but were back playing the next. I drive through neighborhoods now and feel badly that many kids will never have the fun childhood we had. Peggy and I used to sneak in her Dad's office and take huge amounts of the pretend medicine (candy) that he would give out to kids.

In neighborhoods all over Coudersport in the 1950s and 1960s, youngsters shared similar experiences. We had a neighborhood Kick The Can game nearly every evening in the summers. You never knew who would show up but it was such fun to gather under the street light when they called "all-e-all in free"!
Precious memories. I am happy to see my grandchildren living in a neighborhood in small town Washington. They ride their bikes and play all kinds of games outside. Next summer, we'll teach them "Kick The Can."

ah yes... the tiny pink pills in the tiny white boxes. Dr. Herm would write a pretend protocol on them. Debbie and I were just remembering that, Tricia! ??

Dr. Herman Mosch was such a sweet and happy man. Peggy Mosch and I would walk to school together. When I stopped in to get her he made sure to take a minute and talk with us.

Dr. George was our Dr. We were told years ago that kids would not be in our future and then surprise, when Dr. George told me that I was pregnant, he and I grabbed ahold of each other and danced in his waiting room, we waited 4 years to dance.
Our son is named after his and Mrs. Mosch’s son Jeffry. Dr. George also announced when Jeffry was born, at Church. He was a wonderful man and a great dancer. ?? very fond memories of him.

Dr. George was our family doctor, and my earliest inspiration to go into science. So much of what is said of President George H.W. Bush- integrity, solid human being, family, dedication, ... also applied to George and Herm. [Mrs Hauber was a wonderful lady, but I didn't know her nearly as well and Dr. Barclay, not at all- may apply to them as well, but...] George would later become my father-in-law; my esteem for him only grew, as I got to know him better.
