Ronald E. Schweikart, 64, of Second St., Coudersport, PA
Ronald E. Schweikart, 64, of Second St., Coudersport, PA, passed away Wednesday (Jan. 2, 2013) in UPMC Hamot, Erie, PA unexpectedly.
Born July 1, 1948, in Port Allegany, he was a son of Joe and Mae Iddings Schweikart.
Mr. Schweikart had worked at Cameron Manufacturing, Emporium, Waste Management of Virginia, and most recently with GKN of Emporium.
He was a Vietnam War veteran, having served with the US Army with the 82nd Airborne Division.
He was a longtime resident of the area and a graduate of the Austin High School, Class of 1966.
He loved to visit casinos and enjoyed playing blackjack. He was also an organ donor.
Surviving in addition to his longtime companion, Susan E. Peno of Coudersport, with whom he resided, are
a son, Bradley J. Schweikart of Columbia, MO;
two brothers,
- Roger (Patricia) Schweikart of St. Mary’s, PA,
- David (Sylvia) Schweikart of Bellevue, NE;
three sisters,
- Sarah Lanphere and
- Myrtle Baker both of Emporium, and
- Nancy Williams of Port Allegany;
and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents,
a son, Tristan Schweikart, who died in 1998.
There will be no visitation. A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday (Jan. 12, 2013) in the Keating Summit Methodist Church, with Kathryn Boyd officiating.
A military service will be conducted by the Potter County Honor Guard immediately following the service at the church.
Memorials can be given to the family in honor of Ronald.
Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the Switzer Funeral Home, Port Allegany.

The Austin Chapter of the Future Homemakers of America has donated a sum of money to the Pennsylvania Future Homemakers of America Scholarship Fund in name and memory of Miss J. Marie Prather. Miss Prather was their regional advisor and helped the girls many times with various FHA projects before her tragic death. AHS Deadline!!! The orders for the school jackets must be in by Friday, Feb. 25.
Please give your orders to either Cliff Stuckey or Ernie Earle along with the money, of course. AHS Basketball makes the headlines again! Two games were played this week. The Austin Panthers were defeated Friday, Feb. 11, by the Emporium Red Raiders at Emporium. The final score was 85-69.
The second game was played at Austin Tuesday, Feb. 15, with the Northern Potter Panthers. This game was just the opposite of the Emporium game. This one ended in a victory for Austin. The final score was 75-54.
This places Austin in second place..

Woman Charged With Stealing Fentanyl Patch
The theft of a fentanyl patch from a resident of a Sweden Valley nursing home at 1028 East Second Street in Coudersport on August 24, 2011 at 6:45 PM has resulted in theft charges for a Coudersport woman.
Susan Peno of 1280 East Second Street, Coudersport, PA, was charged Friday, in papers filed with the District Court, with theft of the fentanyl patch.
Trooper Andrew R. Mincer wrote, in a news release, that Peno then got scared because of the police involvement and threw the patch in the trash.
