Kenneth E. Perry, 90, of Coudersport, died Friday (August 1, 2003) in Charles Cole Memorial Hospital, Coudersport, after an extended illness.
Born on November 15, 1912 in Angelica, NY, he was a son of Warren E. and Bessie Blow Perry. On December 30, 1935 in Kings Run, he married Juanita M. Harrington, who survives.
He was a graduate of Shinglehouse High School, class of 1933. Mr. Perry worked in the Civilian Conservation Corps, Cooks Run, PA, and later for the former Anchor Toy Company in Coudersport. He was also employed by the former Abbott's Dairy in Coudersport. He was also employed by Pittsburgh Corning Glass in Port Allegany, and for the Pennsylvania State Highway Department. For 26 years Mr. Perry was employed at the Potter County Courthouse in the Maintenance Department. He also worked nights for the former Giant Chemical Company/Great Seal Corporation in Coudersport. After his retirement at age 65, Mr. Perry worked for John Rigas as a courier until he was 85.
He was a member of the First United Presbyterian Church, Coudersport. Mr. Perry was an airplane enthusiast having flown several solo flights at Cherry Springs and Potato City airfields. He enjoyed short wave radios and C.B. radios, having the C.B. handle of "Pill Pusher." In his earlier years, he also enjoyed hunting.
A lifelong area resident, Mr. Perry resided in Coudersport since 1936.
Surviving in addition to his wife is
- one son, F. Paul (Patricia) Perry of Austin;
- one daughter, Judith A. (David) Frost of Covington;
three grandchildren; several great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Perry was preceded in death by
- one grandson, Douglas P. Perry;
- one sister, Shirley Page; and
three brothers,
- Keith Perry,
- Kermit Perry, and
- Warren Perry, Jr.
Friends called on Monday (August 4, 2003) at the First United Presbyterian Church, Coudersport, where funeral services were held on Tuesday (August 5, 2003). The Rev. Douglas W. Orbaker, pastor, officiated.
Burial was in Forest Hills Cemetery, Austin.
Memorials may be made to the Coudersport Volunteer Ambulance Association, West Second Street, Coudersport, PA 16915, or to the Austin Volunteer Ambulance Association, Austin, PA 16720.
Funeral arrangements were under the direction of the Virgil L. Howard Funeral Home, Shinglehouse.

Warren Perry, aged 10, son of Mr and Mrs. Warren Perry, near Ceres, N. Y., was fatally injured Sunday night while the boy was holding a lantern for his father to do the nightly chores about the barn. A horse became uneasy and kicked the boy on the head which resulted in a fractured skull and other injuries. Warren was removed to the Olean City Hospital, where he died Monday. He leaves his parents,
two brothers and
one sister;
also his grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Frank Blow of Coudersport.
Services was held at Ceres yesterday, and burial was made in Rathbone cemetery.
