Gordon's mother was Nancy Lester, Joseph second md. Elizabeth Vance d/o Richard.
Sister to Piety, Elizabeth had first md. Matthias Reed, he was killed in the civil war.
Elizabeth was probably named for her grandmother Elizabeth "wicked Betsy" as she was called for causing her father's death.
