John Maxson and John Maxson Jr are the earliest ancestors of I dare say 90% of Maxsons in Potter and McKean Counties, and I am of their direct line.....grace maxson titus

Patricia Neilly Vella I have a Daniel Horace Maxson in my tree from Rensselaer Co. NY - he & family later moved to Nebraska. Don't know if they're related to your Maxsons, but my Potter Co. Brocks came from there, so apparently Potter Co. was a destination for multiple families from Rensselaer Co. !

Do you have any dates for Daniel Horace Maxson? The 1st Maxson family of record in the Colonies were in Rhode Island, but following the Rev. War many moved to NY State and fought in the war of 1812......those are very much Maxson names.

Daniel (1823-1893) married my 1st cousin 4xremoved, Olive West (1826-1855).
His parents were Daniel (1787-1858) & Susannah Armstrong Maxson. I don't know where they were born.

Patricia Neilly Vella I also think like many young men of his time he started fighting in what would later be called the Revolutionary War at age 13......back then you were considered a man, Richard Maxson Jr lost his life at age 13 to the Pequot Indians.

Grace Titus Patricia Neilly Vella Your Maxson, as did mine, ended up in NY state as they seemed to migrate there as the men all went on to fight in the War of 1812 in the State of NY. My 3X GG mother is buried in that area.

Some of the Maxsons are buried in the Main Settlement Cemetery, Portville, NY. They are my ancestors. They were part of a group of 7th Day Baptists who came from Rhode Island, some stayed in the Portville area, and some over the state line in Penna.

I am related to most of those 57 Maxson's-(Portville). The 1st ones coming to that area from Rhode Island by way of Truxton, NY about the yr 1831. The large Maxson headstone in the Main Settlement (E Portville) Cemetery is my GG father, my other Maxson family lived in Barbertown (also a family name=Barber), am also related, to the Bells Run Ceres, and Myrtle Maxsons. My ancestors (pic above) John and John Jr were SDB Pastors....John Sr being the 1st Pastor of the 2nd SDB Church in the Colonies @ Hopkinton,RI.....grace maxson titus1

I also think we are related somewhere along the line. I do not have all the information I need to try and figure it out, but I have a brother who most likely has it. Barber seems to sound like some of my ancestors, as are Waldens, Langworthys...............do you have your genealogy? I am thinking I might contact my brother and see if he would like to compare your genealogy with ours.

Well, we too have Crandall ancestry. I am going to try and get my brother Dick to get in touch with you, as he would love to interact with our mutual ancestors. He is away right now, but perhaps he will get to you soon........I know we are descended from James Main......Main Settlement was named after him. My brother is Richard Rice.

Marilyn Piepho If you have followed this group at all, you are aware of just a few 1st cousin marriages...
.Luke Main Crandall + Martha Maxson Crandall (Maxson) had (among their other children)
Martha+Nancy Irene (Barber)...their children married and became my GGparents.
I know we are tied in with the Mains, Mosher, Clark(e)'s, Randall, Amelia "Crandall", 2 Reynolds marriages. Wardens....finally a new name!
Most of the Barbers on the map are brothers of my 2X GG Samuel,............
I have a Wm. Russell Maxson m: Abby A Langworthy,
O B Langworthy m:Happy Ivy Maxson......
both are on map sent.
