Such a Charge Was Brought Against Herbert L. Farnsworth. HE PLEAD NOT GUILTY Herbert L Farnsworth, who has resided at the home of hiB sister-in- sister-in- sister-in- sister-in- law, Mrs. Alice Farnsworth, on West Second street, was before Justice of the Peace Cole a few days ago to answer answer to the charge of steallng $450 in gold from Mrs. Farnsworth, the plaintiff. The hearing occupied seven hours, and the nature of the evidence was such as to cause the defendant to be held in bail in the sum of $500, which he furnished. The plaintiff and defendant resided in what is known as the old Dingman house.
Mrs. Farnsworth Farnsworth had placed the money in a trunk for safe keeping, and testified that she bad saved the amount from her husband's pension. (Mr. Farnsworth died about two years ago.) She also alleges that a few days before the disappearance of the money she saw in defendants possession a lead pencil which she had left in the trunk, which he said he had found. His niece testified that she had heard Farnsworth say that "that money wouldn't do Mrs. Farnsworth any good." Farnsworth claimed that he had given Mrs. Farnsworth $200 in gold to save for him. He also testified that he did not take the money, nor did he know what had became of it
