Alvin James Quimby Dies; III About Three Months
Well-Known Inez Fanner, 65, patient ill in Local Hospital About Three weeks - Wife, Seven Children Among Survivors.
Alvin James Quimby, Inez, died Thursday night at the Potter County Memorial Hospital where he had been a patient for about three weeks. He had been ill three months.
Mr. Quimby was born in Homer township. August 4, 1867, the son of James Quimby and Charlotte Foster Quimby.
On September 23,1897 he married Nellie G. Pierce at Niagara Palls, N. Y.
A farmer by occupation, Mr. Quimby spent his entire life near Inez. He was a member of the United Brethren Church. He was associated with the Farmer's Alliance.
Surviving are his wife and seven of the couple's children. They are
- Mrs. Violet Serkleski, Coudersport;
- Warren Quimby, Olean;
- Mrs. Flora Russell, Port Allegany;
- Robert Quimby, Kenmore;
- Mrs. Mary Ward, Coudersport;
- Leo Quimby, Coudersport, and
- Arlie Quimby, Churchville, N. Y.
He leaves four nephews,
- Robert Hartwick, Barstow, Calif.;
- Roger Hartwick, Barstow, Calif.;
- Forest Hartwick, Rcdlands, Calif.;
- Frank Monroe, Coudersport, R. D.
Thirteen grandchildren and four great grandchildren also survive.
A funeral service was held at 2:00 p. m. Sunday at the Grabe Funeral Home. Rev. Roy II. Burchell conducted the service.
Interment was in the Inez Ceme tery, Coudersport, R. D.
