Mr. and Mrs. Edwin H. Corey
Park United Methodist Church, Coudersport, was the setting for the marriage of Miss Mary Anne Barr and Edwin H. Corey on Saturday (April 14, 1973).
The Rev. Donald H.G. Miller officiated at the 2:00 p.m. double-ring ceremony for the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Charley E. Barr, Austin, and the son of Mr. and Mrs. Edwin I. Corey, Coudersport.
Wedding music was provided by Randall Halter, organist, and David Hauber, soloist.
Given in marriage by her father, the bride was attired in a gown of polyester sata peau fashioned with high neck of Cluny lace. The bodice was trimmed with tiny tucks and bands of lace with button trim extended from the neckline to the waist. Tiers of shirred lace enhanced the shoulders of the bishop sleeves which had an inset of lace to the cuffs. Matching lace encircled the waist and the skirt fell into soft gathers. Her chapel-length mantilla was also edged with Cluny lace. She carried a colonial bouquet of white daisies and blue mums with blue streamers.
Miss Debora Barr, Austin, was maid of honor for her sister. Bridesmaids were Miss Iinda White, Austin, cousin of the bride, Mrs. George Barr, Austin, the bride's sister-in-law, and Mrs. Frank Austin, Schaghticoke, N.Y. Jan Barr, the bride's niece, was flower girl.
The attendants were identically attired in chiffon gowns designed with white bodices accented with blue ruffled necklines. The bib effect was outlined with a blue ruffle trimmed with multi-colored Venise lace, and the long full sleeves were of white chiffon. The blue skirts fell into soft gathers. They wore blue picture hats trimmed with flowerettes, a satin ribbon and streamers. Each carried a colonial bouquet of white daisies and mums.
For her daughter's wedding, Mrs. Barr chose a light blue dress with jacket and the groom's mother selected a pink dress and vest. Both mothers had corsages of white daisies.
Larry Chilson, uncle of the groom, Williamsport, was best man. Ushers were Tom Burdick, Frederick, Md., Robert Welsh and John Halloran, both of Coudersport. Chad Barr, nephew of the bride was ringbearer.
Approximately 175 guests attended the reception which was held at the Austin VFW Home.
The bride is a 1964 graduate of Austin Area High School and is employed by the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation at Coudersport.
The bridegroom was graduated from Coudersport Area High School in 1964 and in 1968 from Tri-State College, Angola, tnd. He is employed by Emporium Specialties Co. Inc., Austin.
Following a wedding trip to Ocean City, Md., the couple is living at Goodyear Terrace, Austin.

Hi again, Sandy!
wetzupdoc@me.com
I'd love any pictures you're willing to share, especially the family photo.
I hadn't connected Oleona to Cross Fork before, my bad! Cross Fork holds one of the great mysteries of my file (half sibling, mystery father seems to stem from there- DNA).
Thank you for the run-down on your mom's family. That is so helpful. As I fill in more and more in my expanding family tree, we may find we're even more closely related. LOL!
I've got a picture book on Wood Hicks; if I come across your grandfather, I'll send you a pic. I'm curious myself now.
And I'll look out for them in my census work of Coudersport.
Have you done the DNA? It says we're not related, which I guess we're really not.
More later, I've got some filling in to do,
john

Dear John,
Wow! All I ever knew about Roy's wife was her name. I was planning to look into it but had not yet done so. Thusly, Hi, cousin!
William and Etna had 10 children:
Lucy (never married)
LeRoy
Clara (married Mark Chilson, also a lumberjack, 4 children: Lois, Roger, Hal, Larry)
Florence (married Arnold Klier, no children)
Bessie (married, no children, died age 27)
Jennie (possibly Jane or Genevieve [long, funny story]. She never knew her real first name, but went by Jane. Married Frederick Caddle, one child [me])
Willis (never married)
Clair (married, one daughter, but divorced and family never talked about it, second wife Judy)
Vera (married Knute Evjen, 5 daughters: Solveig, Andree, Annette, Mari, Marsha)
Myron (married Vadare ?, one child, Myra).
I have a formal picture of the entire family, taken around 1916, but there doesn't seem to be an option to attach photos to these messages. If you wouldn't mind sharing your direct e-mail address with me, I can send it to you.
Grandpa and Grandma were born in Gouldsboro (Thornhurst) PA, and came to Potter County when they were first married. He owned a tract of lumber and later, operated a hotel, post office, and general store in Oleona PA (also listed as Cross Fork). The first 4 kids were born in the attic over the cook shack in the lumber camp. My mother was the first to be born in a real house. Grandma was small but mighty and made him build the house before mother was born. Later, they moved to Coudersport and lived there the rest of their lives. My cousin Myra owns the house now. Many, many memories!
There are also some pictures I haven't scanned into the computer yet, but one of them clearly shows William at work. When I get them into my computer, I can send it to you.
So good to meet you!
Sandy Topping

Ach! I'm so sorry, for being so lazy! Right after hitting SEND, I looked at the tree you posted. I see your connection, THANK YOU!
I only have 10 children for Wm and Etna, but NONE of THEIR children.
On the other hand, I do not have Jane, your mother. Did she come between Bessie and Jennie? or is she ... Jennie?
I appreciate your help, if you don't mind; I'd like to get this right.

Hi Sandra,
It's unfortunate that the photo to which we respond isn't part of the response. This has happened to me several times, and I don't know of a fix, yet. I think I found the picture and I think I'd found it on-line and just used it as an 'emblem' for lumbermen in my tree. This is the name:
bark peeler 1900bowler_wmmillerl.jpg
I see what you mean about the resolution. I'll look into this a little more and find a more detailed example.
I'm sorry that this may have miss-lead you; I'd love to find a photo that actually does have William in it.
On the other hand, Cool! that you are related to him. So WE are related, however distantly and not 'blood'. This is how I am connected to William A. Bachman:
He is the
father-in-law of my 2nd cousin 2x removed-
Lulu Myrtle Baker (married Wm's son Leroy Albert Bachman), who is
dau of Lydia S. Brock, who is
dau of Sarah Luzerne Weimer, who is
dau of Michael & Rebecca BARR WEIMER
He lived for a while in Coudersport, Potter County, PA. Are you from Potter County?
What is your lineage from William?
Sincerely,
john

I noticed the picture you uploaded, but it's a bit small for me to tell whether one of the men in the picture is my grandfather, William A. Bachman, although I think he might be the big man standing in front. Can you tell me anything about the picture?
Thanks,
Sandra Topping
