My grandmother Iva, married John Spring, was Eva’s identical twin. I barely remember her. My grandparents lived in Allegany, NY, also where I was born. Iva worked for Acme(?) Electric Co, worked around poly chlorinated phenols and biphenyls, among other known carcinogens. She died of cancer at about 53 yrs old, roughly half the age Eva, her identical twin, lived to. Probably make an interesting study of Nature vs Nurture. It was called, "From a Dog's Point of View." I reread it several yesrs ago. It was clever...but she must have been in a very good mood the night she corrected that essay. Additionally, 95% is a pretty exact grade for a 3 page paper. (It wasn't math class or even sentence diagramming.) Mr. and Mrs. E. H. Wettergren left Tuesday for their home in Fair Lawn, N. J., after being guests for several days at the Hotel Crittenden of the latter's cousin, Mrs. N. E. Barton and Mrs. H. N. Knight. Mr. and Mrs. V. C. Miles and three daughters, who were vacationing for a week on Lake Erie at Conneaut, O., were called home by the sudden death on Saturday of Mr. Miles' father, J. R. Miles, of Germantown. Mr. and Mrs. Miles left at once for Germantown. Mrs. David Perry and four children left Saturday for their home in Clifton Heights, Pa., after a two months' stay with relatives. They were accompanied by her mother, Mrs. F. W. Daugherty and Mr. and Mrs. Robert Coyle. Mrs. Daugherty remained for a longer visit. Cpl. Charles Fred Baker expects to leave Okinawa, August 30, for the United States according to word received by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Simeon Baker. Cpl Baker's last visit home was two years ago last month and he has been in Korea and other Pacific areas since January 1950. Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Powers and son, Tommy, who have enjoyed a two weeks' vacation with his sister, Mrs. Evelyn Tucker, and Mrs. Kenneth Olin and her mother, Mrs. F. A. Stebbins, will return Sunday to their home in New York City. Mr. and Mrs. Olin will motor there with them. Carl Smith, who is employed by Bell Aircraft, at Niagara Falls, N. Y., is spending a month's vacation in town with his father, Maurice B. Smith. They returned Monday from Sayre where the -elder Mr. Smith had been a patient at the Robert Packer Hospital for five days for observation and treatment. Miss Frances Benson returned yesterday from Conesus Lake, N. Y., where she had spent several weeks with her sister, Mrs. J. R. Cole and Mr. Cole. She was accompanied here by Mrs. Albert Michael and daughter, Sally, and Mrs. Fannie Farwell, who were en route to Mt. Alton to be guests of Miss Margaret Quinn. Pierce Brown of Maumee, Ohio, joined his family here Saturday and on Monday they all left for Providence, R. I., to visit his parents. They plan to return here before returning to Ohio. My grandmother Iva, married John Spring, was Eva’s identical twin. I barely remember her. My grandparents lived in Allegany, NY, also where I was born. Iva worked for Acme(?) Electric Co, worked around poly chlorinated phenols and biphenyls, among other known carcinogens. She died of cancer at about 53 yrs old, roughly half the age Eva, her identical twin, lived to. Probably make an interesting study of Nature vs Nurture.
No twins since then, that I’m aware of.

Mr. Lightner died of kidney disease my senior year, 1966-67, such a tragedy. Mr. Holt- No-nonsense math, another really good teacher. I am still a grammar snob, thanks to Mrs. Olin; she simply made English grammar so clear. I also admired Mr. Burris's command of English literature- he made it so interesting. Mr. Wykoff was certainly more awake than he appears here; I remember him more for his coaching and I understand he was a star running-back 'in the day'. I remember Miss Plieskatt as a student teacher for Mrs. Olin. I didn't realize at the time that Miss Atkinson was a local girl; I think she student taught here too.

Josephine Maroney Olin was an english teacher in the 40s and 50s at CHS. Her husband, Ken?, had a barber shop somewhere on Main Street. Harold Reuning may have had the apple and cider farm on Dutch Hill. If so, his daughter Pat, was in my CHS class of '54.

Here is the caption to the class photo. The observation was made that there were no boys in the class photo I just posted, so instead of a class of 33, it looks more like 53, taking the reunion percentage from 54% to 34%. I assume 'Art' is Art Menshel.
