Mrs. Alice F. Gates, 83, of 108 Cartee Street., a widow of Harrison Gates, died Friday ( Jan. 2, 1953 ) at Potter County Memorial Hospital, after an illness of three months. She had been a resident of Main Settlement and Portville moving to Coudersport 60 years ago.
She was born April 18, 1869, at Leondardsville, N.Y., the daughter of Marshall L. Maxson and Emerette Coon Maxson.
She was married Jan. 30, 1938.
Surviving are one daughter, Mrs. Arthur Eld, 202 W. Sullivan St., Olean;
one granddaughter, Miss Marian Eld, Olean,
one neice and
two nephews.
Mrs. Gates was an active member of Park Methodist Church, the Women's Society for Christian Service of that church, and the Women's Christian Temperance Union.
The body has been removed from the Grabe Funeral Home to the late residence, where funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Monday ( Jan. 5, 1953 ). The Rev. Benton S. Swartz will officiate.
Burial will be at Eulalia Cemetery.
