Highly Respected Resident of Little Genesee Had Been in Poor Health for Some-time. Aged 63 Years.
LITTLE GENESEE, April 21 --
(Special to The Breeze.) -- Mrs. A.C. Sanford died at her home here Sunday, April 18, after a long illness. She was aged 63 years.
Wealthy Salvina Barber Sanford was born at Barbertown, McKean county Pa., October 21, 1857. She was the third daughter of Rowland and Salvina May Barber. At the age of 12 years she was baptized by the Rev. G.J. Crandall, joining the East Portville church, later transferring her membership to the Seventh Day Baptist church of Little Genesee.
On January 1, 1878, she was united in marriage to Albert C. Sanford of Little Genesee. To this union five children were born:
- May Beth, wife of Roy A. Farley of Wellsville,
- Amy Anette, wife of A. J. Crandall,
- John Albert and
- Mark Rowland Sanford, all of Little Genesee, and
- Laura Agnes, who died two years ago today, April 21.
She is survived by her husband and four children, her stepmother, Mrs. Julia Barber of Little Genesee,
two sisters,
- Mrs. Flora Clark and
- Mrs. Dora Maxson of Little Genesee, and
one brother, R. E. Barber of Portville.
Although confined to her home much of the timme for many years, she took a great interest in all church work. She was a member of the W.C.T.U and Sunshine club. In spite of the fact that she was a great sufferer whe was always cheerful and looked on the bright side of life. About nine or ten years ago her daughter, Laura, contracted tuberculosis and, although a great sufferer herself Mrs. Sanford hid her ailment from her family and cared for her daughter with love and devotion. She was a faithful and devoted wife and mother and was beloved by all who knew her, leaving many friends to mourn her death.
A brief funeral service was held at the house at 2 o'clock this afternoon the regular services being held at the church. The Rev. E.F. Loofboro officiated. The interment was made in the Wells cemetrey.
