COUDERSPORT - Rachel Carey Kenyon, 94, of Coudersport, died Wednesday (Sept. 12, 2012) at her home.
Born on March 5, 1918, in Coudersport, she was the daughter of T. Frank J. Carey and Mildred Tracy Carey.
On Aug. 22, 1937, in Coudersport, she married B. Earl Kenyon, who died on Oct. 26, 1973.
Mrs. Kenyon was a graduate of Coudersport High School, a Potter County farm wife, a 4-H Club leader, a long-time member of the former Hebron Grange #1251 - having served as secretary, treasurer, and lecturer. She was a 78-year member of the First Seventh Day Baptist Church of Hebron, serving at various times as clerk, treasurer, Sabbath School superintendent and a teacher.
She was employed for 10 years as a bookkeeper at the former First National Bank, now Northwest Savings Bank, followed by another 10 years with Citizens Trust Co., having participated in both Coudersport institutions' 75th anniversary celebrations.
After retirement in 1986, Mrs. Kenyon served as a volunteer with Christmas House in Coudersport for 18 years.
Surviving are her
two grandsons, Allen D. Hauber of Bradford and Benjamin L. (Theresa) Hauber of Raleigh, N.C.,
two great-grandchildren, Alexandra Hauber and Finian Earl Hauber, both of Raleigh;
a son-in-law David W. (Fay) Hauber of Coudersport;
three sisters, Mary Whitehair of Orange City, Fla., Mildred (Wayne Jr.) Knowlton of Roulette and Jean (Herman "Johnny") Rennells of Deland, Fla.;
one brother, Arch L. Carey of Fairview;
and many nieces and nephews.
Besides her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by
one son, Kenneth, who died in July of 1969;
a daughter, Evelyn Hauber, who died in February of 2005;
and one brother, Albert F. Carey, who died in 2009.
Friends are invited to Rachel's Life Celebration beginning Sunday with visitation from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Fickinger Funeral Home, 210 N. East St., Coudersport.
Friends may also call Monday at the First Seventh Day Baptist Church of Hebron from 10 to 11 a.m., at which time funeral services will follow with the Rev. Carl Greene, pastor, officiating.
Burial will be in Hebron Cemetery.

Arch L. Carey, 89, of Coudersport, PA died April 13, 2014, in Sweden Valley Manor.
Born November 8, 1924, in Coudersport, he was the son of Frank J. and Mildred Tracy Carey.
He was a member of the Seventh Day Baptist Church. Arch served in the U S Army Air Corps. during WWII and was a life member of the American Legion Post #192. Arch was an avid outdoorsman, he enjoyed hunting and fishing. He worked for many years as a lineman for Penelec.
Arch is survived by two sisters, Jean (Herman) Rennells of DeLand, FL and Mildred Knowlton of Roulette, PA and two nieces, his caregiver Julie Adair of Edinboro, PA and Mary Jean Rutledge of Gainsville, GA, four nephews, Bruce Whitehair of Wattsburg, PA, Bert Whitehair, of Orange City, FL, John Knowlton of El Reno, OK and Jim Knowlton of Roulette, PA.
He was preceded in death by his parents, brother: Albert Carey, and two sisters: Rachel Kenyon and Mary Whitehair, three nephews: John Rennells, Kenneth Kenyon, and Joel Knowlton, and one niece Evelyn Hauber.
There will be no services and burial will be in the Hebron Cemetery.
