Bert played first cornet in the New York Central Railroad Band in Avis, PA, when he and Hertha lived in Jersey Shore, PA. Bert and Hertha returned to Coudersport and owned the Frinks Station farm from 1922 to 1950. Frank Schoendorfer, married to Anna Elizabeth Mosch, was the director of the New York Central Band. A couple of names in this article are familiar, including Bert’s son Clinton Emil McElroy and Wilson Culver Butz, husband of Marjory Luella Tucker.
