Jolley was one hell of a good football coach. Played center at West Virginia. The man knew football inside and out. Not only X and O's, but knew the psychology of the game as well. I will never forget some of things he said to me. One time he said, "Youngy if I did't like you I wouldn't waste my time picking on you all the time, now get your ass out there and kill somebody". He called me Youngy, not sure why, only person to call me that.

Bernie Jolly was a big WVU fan, and a good coach. He played his college ball at Glenville State in West Virginia. When Coach Jolly was Coudy's Head Football coach, his assistant was Mike Boro also a Freedom Pa H.S. grad who was a team mate of Bernie's at Glemville. Boro was recruited to play at Kentucky by the legendary Bear Bryant. A knee injury resulted in Mike losing his scholarship, thus a transfer to play at Glenville. Durimg a game vs. Juniata College, Bernie went head to head against Chuck Knox...who went on to become NFL Coach of the Year with three different franchises Seahawks, Bills and Rams. How 'bout them apples?

So true, Kim. I think almost the entire town was at the game and coming home, it was like a somber motorcade for as far as you could see both in front and behind us. The town fire siren was to have been set off had we won and my Mom said she waited in anticipation of hearing the siren which never sounded.
