Search for Son of Henry C. Campbell
- Contributed by Denise Hansen
From the Wilkes-Barre Times, dated June 7, 1902:
Galeton - A lost boy in the woods of Potter county was the occasion of the Buffalo and Susquehanna Railroad sending out a special train of eight coaches Sunday morning with free transportation for volunteers to search for the lad. The word was passed along through the lumber camps and about 700 persons assembled yesterday morning at the Galeton station. Placards had been posted announcing that the Goodyears, owners of the road, had generously donated a train to search for
- Sherman Campbell, the 12-year-old son of
- Henry C. Campbell,
who was lost in the woods on Fox Mountain between Ulysses and Brookland.
Almost every able-bodied man in Potter county responded to the appeal. It was found necessary to add four box cars for the dogs that were brought along by the searchers.
The boy has been missing for eight days, and when last seen was driving a cow on a trail that led from a lumber camp to his home in Ulysses.
