Obituary for Charles H.(sic) Hassinger (Aged 74) -
Charles H.(sic) Hassinger
Charles A. (Bill) Hassinger, 74, of 464 Center Park, died unexpectedly Friday at his home.
He was born May 5, 1897 in Philadelphia, a son of Charles E. and Margaret Barnhart Hassinger. He married the former Mary E. Brown, June 6, 1934, at Austin.
Mr. Hassinger had been a resident of Coudersport since 1930 and was a retired former foreman of the Pennsylvania Department of Highways Forestry Division.
He served with the U.S. Navy during World War I.
Mr. Hassinger was a member of Park United Methodist Church;
Potter Post 192, American Legion; Revovo Lodge 49: F &AM; Williamsport Consistory and a plural member of Coudersport Consistory; Royal Arch Chapter 263; Potter Commandery No. 69; Jaffa Temple, Order of the Shrine in Altoona.
Besides his wife, surviving are
two daughters,
- Mrs. William (Lucille) Stangl, Albrightsville, and
- Mrs. Garold (Betty) Terrette, Atlanta, Ga.;
seven grandchildren;
- one brother, Gilbert Hassinger, Bellefonte;
two sisters
- Miss Ellen Hassinger, Bellefonte, and
- Mrs. Margaret Shields of Indiana.
Masonic memorial services were held Sunday night at Grabe-Fickinger Funeral Home. A funeral service was held there at 2:00 p.m. Monday with the Rev. Donald H. G. Miller, pastor of Park United Methodist Church, officiating.
- Burial was in Sweden Hill Cemetery.
Pallbearers were:
- Kenneth Scott,
- Gordon Polo,
- W. Charles Gleason,
- William Hassinger,
- Charles Hassinger and
- Phillip Hassinger.
Military rites were conducted at the graveside by members of Potter Post 192, American Legion. Participating were:

Russell Austin,
Walter Blow,
Joseph Dubois, colors;
Roy Lamb, guard;
Howard Moore, bugler;
Joseph Milchuck, commander,
Roger Butz,
Henry Bunnell,
Adelbert Osborne,
George Milchuck,
Francis Kellner and
Donald Setzer, firing squad.
The American flag was folded and presented to Mrs. Hassinger by Mr. Blow and Joseph Milchuck.
