Headstone is WRONG
I have been researching the Metz family of Metz, WV for nearly 20 years, as I'm a Metz and a direct descendant.
The headstone in the picture is NOT Leonhart (Leonard), I dug a little at the bottom to reveal it says AGED 57 YEARS, not 1757. I also have cleaned the stone in 2023. This is likely a SON of Jacob Metz.

Baptism: 10 Nov 1765, First Reformed Congregation, Lancaster, PA
Emigration: 1790, Moved from Lancaster County, Pennsylvania to Marion County, Virginia.
Marion County, West Virginia Individual Metz Family Records--"Some records say he was born in Germany. Some say Lancaster County, PA. Some records say he was the son of Jacob, who died in Dauphin County, Pennsylvania. Leonard married his wife, Margaret, and came to Monongalia County about 1810. Margaret was born about 1760. Records show them on Buffalo Creek, Pyles Fork and Paw Paw Creek. They were living in Marion County when Leonard died on No.v 15, 1865. It is not known where they are buried. Margaret was the daughter of Adam and Elizabeth Shalley.
We have death date as about 1820. If he died in 1865 he would have been 108 years old. That does not compute.
