Willard J. “Jay” Babcock, Jr., 63, of Port Allegany, PA
Port Allegany - Willard J. “Jay” Babcock, Jr., 63, of Port Allegany, died Sunday (October 31, 2010) in the Charles Cole Memorial Hospital, Coudersport.
He was born Jan 17, 1947 in Port Allegany, a son of Willard J. and Marjorie M. Buck Babcock, Sr., On July 18, 1998, in Bradford, PA, he married Nancy A. Homell, who survives.
Mr. Babcock was a graduate of Smethport Area High School.
Mr. Babcock was employed at Dresser Manufacturing of Bradford, was a Deputy Sheriff for the McKean County Sheriff’s office for 28 years. He also worked part time for the Potter County Sheriff’s office, was a security guard at University of Pitt., Bradford, and drove for ATA.
He was a past member of the Free Masons.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by
one daughter: - Tammy (Dale) Luff of Smethport, PA;
three sons: - Brent M. (Tracey) Babcock of Lebanon, PA,
- Paul Allen (Barbara) Babcock of Indiana, PA,
- Bobby Church of Smethport, PA;
one brother: - James E. (Kay) Babcock of Port Allegany, PA;
Step Son, - Scott Daugherty of Port Allegany, PA;
step daughter, - Kellie (Bob Guilds) Daugherty of Port Allegany, PA;
step daughter, - Dawn Peangatelli of Rixford, PA.;
10 grandchildren; 3 step grandchildren;
and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and a sister, Bernice L. Smith.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday from 10 -11am at the First Baptist Church, Port Allegany, PA, where funeral and committal services will be held at 11:00 am, with the Rev. Michael Culver, pastor of the Port Allegany Baptist Church, officiating.

46. LAWRENCE BUCK, farmer specializing in dairying and potato growing, was born September 16, 1893, in Ulysses, the son of C.E. and Charlotte (Cushing) Buck. He is a graduate of Ulysses High School. He is a director of the Grange National Bank and a school director of Ulysses. He is a member of the Baptist Church, the Grange, Lewisville Lodge Number 556 F.&A.M., the County School Board and the Board of the Northern Tier Children's Home. He married, April 2, 1917, Mabel Evans, daughter of Arthur and Rosa (Reed) Evans of Ulysses. She attended Boston Conservatory of Music. She is a member of the Baptist Church, the Grange and the Federated Women's Club. They have nine children:
(1) Lois (Buck) Wilson of Mansfield who graduated from Ulysses High School and attended Pennsylvania State College. She has one daughter, Sally Ann.
(2) Grace (Buck) Kear of Harrison Valley who graduated from Ulysses High School and attended Mansfield State Teachers College. She has one daughter, Kay Frances.
(3) Louise (Buck) Miller of Campbell, New York, who is a graduate of Ulysses High School and of Robert Packer Hospital of Sayre. She has two children, John and Jane.
(4) Jean (Buck) Howe of Ulysses, a graduate of Ulysses High School and Mansfield State Teachers College. She has one daughter, Margery Jean.
(5) Gladys (Buck) Angood of Bingham Center, a graduate of Ulysses High School. She has two children, Donna Joyce and Ronald Arlie.
(6) Roger Lawrence of Ulysses who graduated from Ulysses High School in 1946.
(7) Dorothy Anne, a student in Ulysses High School.
(8) Raymond Eugene, a student in Ulysses High School.
(9) Robert Armond, a student in the fifth grade in Ulysses School.
Mrs. Buck's hobby is music.
Mr. Buck's hobby is collecting stamps and coins.

Dorothy Buck Erway, 80, of Coudersport, PA died Tuesday, May 11, 2010 at Charles Cole Memorial Hospital in Coudersport.
Born on November 17, 1929 in Coudersport she was the daughter of Lawrence and Mabel Evans Buck.
Mrs. Erway was business secretary for Erway Farms Dairy for many years and was a former business secretary for the Coudersport School District, retiring in 1998.
She was a member of Park United Methodist Church, Susquehannock Trail Club, Potter County Historical Society, Potter County Hospice, and the Coudersport Volunteer Ambulance Association.
Surviving are
two daughters,
- Christine (Rev. Robert) Phillips of Peoria, IL,
- Peggy (Jim) Wilkinson of Coudersport,
six sons,
- Dana (Ginger) Erway,
- David (Kathy) Erway, and
- Steven (Brenda) Erway, all of Coudersport, - Edward (Mary) Erway of Lexington, KY,
- Paul (Barbara) Erway of Shelbyville, KY,
- Michael (Melissa) Erway of Abingdon, MD,
22 grandchildren,
8 great-grandchildren,
one brother, Raymond Buck of Ulysses, PA,
two sisters,
- Grace Kear of Ulysses, PA and
- Jean Howe of California, and
many nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 6 - 8 p.m. today. Wednesday, May 12, 2010 at Park United Methodist Church where a memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday with her son-in- law, Reverend Robert Phillips officiating.
Burial will be at the convenience of the family in Ulysses Cemetery.
