  	Polly Taylor, widow of John Taylor [Sr], deceased, made an application for bounty land under the Act of 1855. She was allowed 160 acres of land for her husband's service in the War of 1812. Her son-in-law, Aly Smith (husband of her daughter Sarah Taylor who was born after John Taylor [Sr]\'s death), was present at the affidavit Polly made in Pike County, Kentucky, in 1856. Pike County, KY, borders Logan County, VA (later WV), where Polly lived.
  	20250908GHLn- LDS- Official records from the War of 1812 show that John Taylor served as a private in Capt. Tabb's and Capt. Parson's companies from the 4th regiment of Virginia militia and that he died in the hospital in Norfolk, Virginia, on 9 December 1814 while in service. His widow, Polly [Varner] Taylor, applied for a pension which was executed on 30 March 1853. She was listed on that pension application as age 71 and living in Logan County, Virginia, in 1853. On her application, she listed the names of her children with John Taylor: (1) daughter Jane Taylor, aged 49 in 1853 (2) son William Taylor, aged 45 in 1853 (3) daughter Harriet Taylor, aged 43 in 1853 (4) daughter Charlotte Taylor, aged 42 in 1853 (5) daughter Matilda Taylor, born in February 1814, aged 39 in 1853 (6) son John Taylor [Jr], born 13 April 1809, who was deceased about 10 years prior to 1853 On 13 April 1855, Polly Taylor, widow of John Taylor [Sr], deceased, made an application for bounty land under the Act of 1855. She was allowed 160 acres of land for her husband's service in the War of 1812.
