The book EARLY ADVENTURES OF THE WESTERN WATERS, VOL II, by Mary Kegley p age 397 discusses Adam Runner living in Drapers Valley as early as 1786, on 230 acres of land on Macks Run. (Mongomery County Deed Book A, P402) Records indicate that he was definitely living in Wythe County Virginia in 1751 when his first child, Adam Runner, Jr. was born.
