Major Edward Nelson Stebbins, Sr., as a young officer, was one of the honor guards in the White House guarding the remains of President Abraham Lincoln. He was also a witness to the burial of John Wilkes Booth. Edward ran a mercantile business in the 1880's in Coudersport (apparently next to the post office.) I think Jessie, in this photo, posted last July by Lanny Nunn, is Edward and Mary Treat Clapp Stebbins' daughter.
