Elizabeth “Betty” Campbell, 85, of Galeton, PA
Elizabeth “Betty” Campbell, 85, of Galeton, PA, died on Tuesday, August 31, 2010 at Charles Cole Memorial Hospital, Coudersport, PA.
Born May 3, 1925 in Galeton, she was a daughter of the late Gus and Ella (Anderson) VanSteamburg.
On July 1, 1945, in Galeton, she married Oliver “Twist” Campbell, who survives.
Betty worked at Galeton Production for many years and enjoyed gardening, antiques and spending time with her family and friends.
Surviving are
- her husband of 65 years, Oliver “Twist” Campbell, Galeton;
- two sons,
- William (Lynne) Campbell and
- John (Brenda) Campbell, both of Galeton;
- a daughter, Nancy (Clay Louden) Campbell, Galeton;
- 13 grandchildren;
- 13 great grandchildren; and
- a sister, Virginia Mack, Galeton.
Friends may call at the Hess Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Collins Chapel, Galeton, on Saturday, September 4, 2010 from 1:00-4:00pm. Memorial contributions may be made to the charity of the donor’s choice.

Oliver “Twist” Campbell, 91, of Galeton, PA
Oliver “Twist” Campbell, 91, of Galeton, PA, died on Sunday, October 26, 2014 at Robert Packer Hospital, Sayre, PA.
Born January 1, 1923 in Galeton, he was a son of the late Roy and Marie (Burrous) Campbell.
On July 1, 1945, in Galeton, he married the former Elizabeth VanSteamburg, who preceded him in death in 2010.
In 1945, he purchased his first truck and started Campbell Trucking.
He retired from the business, which is still in operation, in 2008.
Over the years, he also worked at Sunnydale Farms.
Twist was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Galeton, a member of the Galeton Masons, and a founding member of the Gale Hose Ambulance Association.
Surviving are
- two sons, - William (Lynne) Campbell and
- John (Brenda) Campbell, both of Galeton;
- a daughter, - Nancy (Clay Louden) Campbell, Galeton;
- 13 grandchildren;
- 15 great grandchildren;
- a brother, Clint (Mary) Campbell, Galeton;
- a sister, Joan (Dick) McInroy, Canisteo, NY;
- several nieces and nephews;
and close friend, Ronald Dean, Sr.
In addition to his parents and wife, Twist was predeceased by his lifelong friend, Robert “Bob” Devling.
Friends may call at the Hess Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Collins Chapel, Galeton, on Saturday, November 1, 2014 from 1:00-6:00pm. A private graveside service will be held at a later date.
Memorial contributions may be made to the charity of the donor’s choice.
