He was born Jan 28, 1933, in James City, the son of the late Russell and Bertha Chittester Farnsworth.
He was a veteran of the US Army, serving during the Korean conflict.
He bad been employed as a heavy equipment operator in construction for Local Union 66.
He was a past member of the L.O.O.M. 130, Veteran of Foreign Wars Lodge 1131 and the National Rifle Association.
He enjoyed hunting, fishing and gardening.
He is survived by
his wife, Theresa Bradley Farnsworth, whom he married Aug 14, 1953;
a son - Joe;
daughters - Debbie Staples and
- Sheila Bradybaugh;
6 grandchildren;
sisters - Helen Pardee,
- Sandy Baker and
- Ginny Weidow;
brothers - Chuck,
- Richard,
- Robert and
- Ronnie Farnsworth.

Richard H. "Dick" Farnsworth
Richard H. "Dick" Farnsworth, 71, of 811 Washington St., St. Marys, died at his home on Friday, Nov. 2, 2012 following a battle with cancer.
He was born Aug. 20, 1941 in New Millport, a son of the late Russell and Bertha Chittister Farnsworth.
On Feb. 4, 1967 in St. Mary's Church, he married Joan Hoffman Farnsworth, who survives.
Dick was a veteran of the U.S. Army, having been discharged in January of 1968.
He made his career working at St. Marys Carbon and Stackpole Carbon Company.
He also spent time as a truck driver and working at the All American Car Wash.
In addition to spending time with his family, he enjoyed hunting with his grandsons and visiting the casinos.
He was an avid Steelers fan and greatly enjoyed rooting for the team.
In addition to his wife of more than 45 years, Joan Hoffman Farnsworth, he is survived by
two daughters,
- Melinda, Mrs. Martin Sorg of Johnsonburg and
- Michele, Mrs. Robert DeCecchis, of Johnsonburg;
five grandchildren,
- Matthew Neubert and his wife Alexandra of Baden,
- Jonathan DeCecchis of Pittsburgh,
- Maria Neubert of St. Marys,
- Marissa Neubert of Johnsonburg, and
- Kaylee DeCecchis of Johnsonburg;
three brothers,
- Ronald Farnsworth of Clearfield,
- Chuck Farnsworth of Indianapolis, Ind., and
- Bob Farnsworth of Bradford; and
two sisters,
- Sandra, Mrs. Hunter Baker of Mackville, Ky., and
- Virginia Weidow of Kane.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by
three sisters,
- Helen Pardee,
- Norma Farnsworth and
- Mabel Anderes; and
three brothers,
- Russ,
- Arch and
- Tom Farnsworth.
A Mass of Christian Burial for Richard H. Farnsworth will be celebrated at the St. Mary's Catholic Church, Church Street, St. Marys, on Monday, Nov. 5, 2012 at 10 a.m., with the Rev. Meinrad Lawson, O.S.B., as celebrant. Military honors will be conducted by the St. Marys Servicemen's Burial Detail.
- Burial will follow in the St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery.
Visitation will be at the Lynch-Green Funeral Home on Sunday afternoon from 2-5 p.m.Memorial contributions may be made to Community Nurses Hospice, 757 Johnsonburg Rd., Suite 200, St. Marys, PA 15857. RUSSELL FARNSWORTH OF JAMES CITY DIES IN HAMOT HOSPITAL, ERIE
Russell W. Farnsworth Sr., 57, of James City, mechanic and maintenance man at the Rose Bowl Lanes and area resident for the past 39 years, died Wednesday afternoon at 12:30 o'clock at Hamot Hospital, Erie, where he had been a patient for the last week.
He had been in ill health for the past year.
Mr. Farnsworth was born Feb. 16, 1908 at Buckhannon, W.Va. He resided at Commodore, Pa. before coming to James City 39 years ago.
He was employed as a mechanic and maintenance man at the Rose Bowl Lanes.
He was a member of the Union Assembly of God Church at James City He belonged to the Veterans of Foreign Wars and to Kane Aerie 307, Fraternal Order of Eagles.
Mr. Farnsworth is survived by his wife, Mrs. Bertha Chittester Farnsworth, to whom he was married June 28, 1928 at Falls Creek; five daughters,
- Mrs. Helen Pardee of Indianapolis, Ind.,
- Mrs. Mabel Andrus of Johnsonburg,
- Mrs. Virginia Lee Weidow of Kane,
- Miss Norma Jean Farnsworth and
- Miss Sandra Farnsworth of James City;
seven sons,
- Arthur,
- Robert,
- Richard and
- Charles Farnsworth of Indianapolis;
- Russell Farnsworth Jr. of Kane;
- Thomas and
- Ronald Farnsworth of James City;
two sisters,
- Mrs. Betty Shreve of Buckhannon, W. Va. and
- Mrs. Evelyn Bennett of Clarksburg, W. Va.;
four brothers,
- Donald,
- Herbert and
- Stacy Farnsworth, all residing in Virginia and
- August Farnsworth of Kane;
19 grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Friends may call at the Cummings Funeral Home at the usual visiting hours, 2 to 5 and 7 to 9 o'clock, beginning this evening.
Memorial services will be held at Cummings Saturday afternoon at 2 o'clock, with the Rev. Mearle Grossglass of the Union Assembly of God Church and the Rev. Donald Holsinger of the Church of the Nazarene officiating.
- Interment will be in Forest Lawn cemetery.
