Shirley A. Kinney, Walworth (1924 - 2011)
April 13, 1924 - July 25, 2011
Shirley A. Kinney, age 87, of Walworth, WI, died Monday, July 25, 2011, at Mercy Hospital in Janesville, WI. Shirley was born on April 13, 1924, at Poygan in Winnebago County, WI, to parents Coral and Mazy (Moon) Mitchell. She was united in marriage to Maynard Kinney on Aug. 14, 1951, at the home of Rev. & Mrs. Harold Gronseth, in Walworth, WI. She was a telephone operator in Delavan, WI, and a chief operator in Walworth, WI. Shirley was also an Avon representative for 37 years in this area.
Shirley enjoyed bowling for 50 years. She was a member of the Walworth's Women's Bowling League and was secretary for the league for many years. She was a member of the Harvard Moose Lodge, VFW Ladies Auxiliary, and the Como Community Church. She enjoyed her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, playing cards with Pam, bird watching Cardinals, and collecting porcelain Cardinals.
Shirley is survived by her husband, Maynard of Walworth, WI; her children: Sandy Gorecki Baum and husband, Peter of Genoa City, WI, Steve and wife, Linnea Kinney of Walworth, WI, and daughter-in-law, Pam Davis of Lake Geneva, WI; grandchildren: Alan and wife Sherri Gorecki of Elkhorn, WI, Jeff Kinney of Lake Geneva, WI, Shane Westphal of Stevens Point, WI, Brianna and husband, Alex Beckstrand of Camp Lejeune, NC, and Sheena Stanislowski of Delaware; great-grandchildren, Kalib & Maegan Gorecki; brothers, Wayne and wife, Sandi Mitchell of Soldiers Grove, WI; many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her son, Kevin L. Kinney; her parents; brothers: Leon, Fred, Russel, Jim, and Dwayne Mitchell; and sisters: Ruth & Edith Mitchell, Opal Rozell, Maxine Timm, Juanita Kline, and Laura Wood.
Services for Shirley Kinney will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, July 30, 2011, at the TOYNTON FUNERAL HOME in WALWORTH, WI, with Rev. Robert Kamps officiating. Visitation will be from 5 until 8 p.m. Friday, July 29, at the funeral home. Interment will be in the Walworth Cemetery in Walworth, WI.
