George Lanson Perry 136th New York Infantry Adjutant General: Perry, George L.--Age, 19 years. Enlisted, August 6, 1862, at Bolivar, to serve three years; mustered in as private, Co. A, September 26, 1862; promoted corporal, March 4, 1865; mustered out with company, June 13, 1865, near Washington, D.C. -------------- Occupation: farmer -------------- Father: David Perry mother\'s maiden name: Filura Howard -------------- Married: unknown -------------- The Sabbath Recorder Volumn 65 George L. Perry, was born in Richburg, N.Y. April 2, 1843, and died in Little Genesee, N.Y., June 24, 1908. At the age of 18 he enlisted in the Union Army, and served for three years as Corporal in Company A, 136th Regiment, N.Y. Volunteers. He took part in the Battle of Gettysburg and others, and was in the march with Sherman\'s army to the sea. After the close of the war he went to Michigan, where he spent the greater part of his remaining years, returning occasionally to New York to visit his brothers and sisters. Four brothers and two sisters survive him. Two years ago he returned to spend the remainder of his days with relatives and comrades, and died at the home of his nephew in Little Genesee where his funeral took place, June 26, conducted by Pastor Babcock, in the presence of a large company of relatives and friends. --------- Burial: Wells Cemetery Little Genesee Allegany County New York, USA Plot: Lot 39, TS,O,DR | |
