• Death Results From Fall Through Furnace Opening
Mrs. Everett Ditto of Roulette Victim of Peculiar Accident -Carrying Baby Granddaughter -Furnace Being Cleaned.
Mrs. Everett Ditto, 64, died in the Potter County Memorial Hospital, Tuesday (Oct. 2, 1956). Mrs. Ditto was carrying her granddaughter, Melinda Tucker, five-months-old daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Robert Tucker, at the Tucker home Sunday afternoon.
The floor furnace had been opened for cleaning. Not noticing, the woman went through the opening carrying the infant with her. Due to the seriousness of her injuries, Mrs. Ditto was moved immediately to the Potter County Memorial Hospital at this place. Her various injuries were so serious that death resulted Tuesday.
The tiny Melinda suffered a fractured left leg between the knee and hip. She is still a hospital patient.
Mrs. Mary Emily Ditto was born at Roulette July 1, 1892, a daughter of Anton and Emily Godio Zizka. She became Mrs. Everett Ditto on October 14, 1914.
Survivors include the husband and one daughter, Mrs. Jeannine Tucker;
two grandchildren, Melinda Jo and Susan Jane Tucker,
with four sisters,
Mrs. Barbara Owens and Mrs. Emma Fessenden, Roulette;
Mrs. Antoinette Simmons, Lockport, N. Y., and
Mrs. Josephine Elliott, Cleveland, O.
The body will be taken from the Grabe Funeral Home tomorrow (Friday) for service at 1:30 from the family home at 2:00 o'clock from the Methodist Church.
Interment will be in Lyman Cemetery at Roulette.
Miss Donna White Will Be Married in December
Mrs. Onalee Bickford, of Coudersport, announces the engagement of her daughter, Donna Rae White to Virgle K. Shutt, son of Frank Shutt of Bingham Center.
Miss White is a graduate of the Coudersport High School and is employed by Harold B. Fink, a local attorney. Mr. Shutt is a graduate of the Ulysses High School and is presently employed at Karhan's
