"Know all men by those presents that we Jno Vernon & Wm Hunter ___ ___ are held and firmly bound to his Excellency the Governor of Virginia in the sum of fifty pounds covenant money, To which payment is all and truly to be made we bind ourselves jointly & severally firmly by these presents witness our hands & seals this 3rd day of September 1792.
The condition of the above obligation is such that whereas there is a marriage shortly intended to be solemnized between the above bound Jno. Verner & Elizabeth Hunter of the County of Rockbridge.
If therefore there is no lawfull cause to obstruct the same, then this obligation to be void or else to remain in force.

.....Jane's parents, William and Charity, relocated to south western Virginia, to Pittsylvania County (their home was located in the section of the county that became Henry County in 1776, then Franklin County in 1786). Jane married William Turner, a neighbor, son of Shadrack Turner and his wife Ann Pollard Hill Turner. They married April 17, 1773 (Bond) when Jane was about fourteen or fifteen years old. Over the next several years, Jane and William became the parents of fourteen children.....
The first born was George Turner, born October 17, 1776. Jane would have been sixteen or seventeen years old.
Her last child was Elkanah, born in 1801...Jane would have been age forty-one.
All of their children survived to old age, except one, whose name and age are unknown, and probably did not survive childhood.
......Jane's husband William, served in the Revolutionary War, and his father Shadrack was a Revolutionary War Patriot.
William was a farmer, and a blacksmith as a young man. In early rural Virginia crops would have been grown to provide food for the family and slaves, but tobacco would have beenthe main commodity, and increasingly so in the next years in southwestern Virginia.
......Jane and William were members of the Baptist church for seventy two years.
......In 1806, Jane was bequeathed land and two slaves, Moss and Milly, in her father William Hunter's will, dated 6 Sept1806.

.......Jane and William resided in Franklin County, Virginia. Their plantation home is located about two miles from the present day community of Henry, in Franklin County. It is located two or so miles from William's parents Shadrack and Ann Pollard Hill Turner's home, known as "King's Grant" (or "The Old Turner Place) listed on the National Register. A descendant, William Lee Turner, visited Jane and William's home in 1987 (see Photo), it's current condition is unknown. In 1987, the house was remotely located in a wooded area, and being used for storage.
The house is probably circa 1780-1800.
.......I do not know of any possessions that have survived from Jane and William. There was probably a family Bible, but I have no knowledge of one. Perhaps one of her many descendants is fortunate to have inherited something.
.......They were very beloved, and have many descendants in Virginia and across the country.

.......Jane and William resided in Franklin County, Virginia. Their plantation home is located about two miles from the present day community of Henry, in Franklin County. It is located two or so miles from William's parents Shadrack and Ann Pollard Hill Turner's home, known as "King's Grant" (or "The Old Turner Place) listed on the National Register. A descendant, William Lee Turner, visited Jane and William's home in 1987 (see Photo), it's current condition is unknown. In 1987, the house was remotely located in a wooded area, and being used for storage.
The house is probably circa 1780-1800.
.......I do not know of any possessions that have survived from Jane and William. There was probably a family Bible, but I have no knowledge of one. Perhaps one of her many descendants is fortunate to have inherited something.
.......They were very beloved, and have many descendants in Virginia and across the country.
