John D. Benson
CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. - John D. Benson, 52, of 323 Warm Spring Road, died Sunday, Oct. 12, 1997, at Veterans Affairs Medical Center, Martinsburg, W.Va.
Born Jan. 17, 1945, in Kittanning, Pa., he was the son of the late Hiram and Florence G. Bell Benson.
He was a janitor with the Armstrong School District prior to his illness.
He was a veteran of the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War.
He is survived by
- his wife, Nancy L. Condron Benson, whom he married June 15, 1968;
- three daughters,
- Donna Barber of Fort Loudon, Pa., and
- Sandy Benson and
- Amanda Benson, both of Chambersburg;
- two sisters,
- Louise Bell of Westminster, Md., and
- Evelyn Jewell of Rural Valley, Pa.;
- one brother, Thomas Benson of Gibsonville, N.C.;
- one granddaughter; and
- three grandsons.
He was preceded in death by two brothers,
- William and
- Frank Benson.
Services will be held Thursday at 2 p.m. at Kelso-Cornelius Funeral Home, 6492 Lincoln Way West in St. Thomas. The Rev. Bob Verno will officiate. Burial will be private and at the convenience of the family.
A viewing will be held at the funeral home one hour prior to the service.
