According to the Watson Cemetery Records found online (http://www.paintedhills.org/POTTER/WATSONCEM.htm) (cached), he was born 26 Apr 1822. During the Civil War, he served in Co. H, 46th Pennsylvania Infantry, from 13 Sep 1861 - 2 Jun 1864 (Rank: 2nd Lieut.). Merrick and Lura's father was supposedly named Joshua Jackson, according to some family notes. I don't have other information on his ancestry. Lura's grandson, Angelo Merrick Robbins, Sr. (my 2nd-great-grandfather), was named for Merrick Jackson.
