COUDERSPORT, PA---James H. Campbell, 82, of Coudersport, passed away in his home with his loving wife by his side on Friday, July 20, 2012, after a long illness.
Born January 8, 1930 in Coudersport, he was a son of James P. and Lula J. Thompson Campbell. On March 24, 1951 in Hebron, he married Ellamay Stearns, who survives.
He was a graduate of Coudersport High School, class of 1949. After graduation, he was employed by the former Brownhill and Kramer Hosiery Company in Coudersport. Mr. Campbell then served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War, having been stationed in Germany. He was then employed by Latex Construction Company being involved in the building of the Tennessee Gas Company pump station buildings. In 1954 he was employed by Tennessee Gas Company working in the engine room, continuing there for 16 years. In 1964, he and his wife, purchased the Coudersport Tastee Freeze. He also worked construction for several contractors in Coudersport until 1973. In 1973, Mr. Campbell went to work for Pine Creek Real Estate Company (which was purchased by Stevens Associates) in Coudersport, where he was the office manager. He then worked for the Department of Forestry in the maintenance department, retiring in 1995. After retirement, he drove for Adelphia Communications in Coudersport.
Mr. Campbell attended Coudersport Free Methodist Church and was a former member of the Coudersport Jaycee’s. He was a member of Potter Post 192 American Legion in Coudersport. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, cruises, and traveling, having gone to Germany.
Surviving in addition to his wife are a son, Curtis J. (Christine) Campbell of Frederick, MD; a grandson, Dennis J. Campbell; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Campbell was predeceased by three sisters, Ione L. Marvin, Thelma H. Stout, and Marge L. Goodman.
At Mr. Campbell’s request, there will be no public visitation. Friends are invited to attend a memorial service on Sunday, July 22, 2012 at 2 pm in the Coudersport Free Methodist Church, South Main Street, Coudersport, with the Rev. Pete Tremblay, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Hebron Cemetery, Crandall Hill, Coudersport.
Flowers are gratefully declined. Memorials may be made to the Christmas House, 1 Water Street, Coudersport, PA 16915 or to the Coudersport Public Library, Park Avenue, Coudersport, PA 16915.

A Pretty Wedding
Miss Ellamay Stearns Becomes Bride of James H. Campbell
A pretty wedding was held at the Hebron Seventh Day Baptist Church Saturday evening, when Ellamay, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Don Stearns, became the bride of James H. Campbell, son of Mr. and Mrs. James Campbell of Coudersport. The double ring ceremony was performed by the Rev. Ronald Hargis, pastor of the church.
The bride was attired in white satin princess gown with lace trim and train. She wore pearls, a gift of the groom, and her bouquet was white roses. Maralee Stearns, sister of the bride, was maid of honor and wore an aqua ninon dress and carried a colonial bouquet of pink roses.
The bridesmaids were Mrs. John Rennells and Mrs. Jack Yard-lay. Their dresses were like the maid of honor's but were pink and they carried bouquets of roses. The bride's mother wore green with gray accessories and had a corsage of yellow roses. The bride's grandmother, Mrs. Lottie Harris wore blue with white accessories and had a corsage of gardenias. The mother of the groom wore green with brown accessories and had a corsage of yellow roses.
Dick Stearns, brother of the bride, was best man, and Robert Stout, Walter Goodman and Carson Marvin, brothers-in-law of the groom, were ushers.
Mrs. Harry Carley at the organ played appropriate wedding music and Clayton Stearns sang "I Love You Truly," "Through the Years" and "The Lord's Prayer."
The Church was beautiful with palms, white snapdragons, lilies and candles. After the ceremony a reception was held in the Community Hall for about one hundred guests.
Mrs. Campbell graduated from Coudersport High School, attended Salem College, Westbrook Business Academy and is employed as secretary at Brownhill & Kramer hosiery mill.

After a trip which will include Washington, D. C, Harrisburg and Gettysburg, the young couple will make their home with his parents at Coudersport until his induction into the armed services.

CHURCHVILLE -- Walter Howell Goodman died Tuesday (Dec. 20, 2005.) He was born May 13, 1914, near Cool Spring, N.C., to John Franklin and Mary Eleanor (Foster) Goodman. He retired from Republic Steel Corporation, he drove a tractor-trailer in Richmond, and he drove part-time as a bank courier.
Mr. Goodman was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Marjorie (Campbell) Goodman,- and two brothers, Benjamin and Paul Goodman. Survivors include a son, John Goodman, and two sisters, Elizabeth Norris of Advance, N.C., and Nancy Goodman of Statesville, N.C.
Memorial services will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Christian Fellowship Baptist Church. Burial will be at Green Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be one hour prior to the services at the church. Bear Funeral Home is handling arrangements.
