1911-07-16 Mrs. Mary E. Brizzie was born in Oswayo 72 years ago and died there July 16, 1911, the daughter of Thomas Kenyon, one of the earliest pioneers.
She died at the home of her brother Ren. Kenyon. Two daughters, Mrs. Cora E. Maher of Elmira, N.Y. and Mrs. Eva Nelson, wife of Mart Nelson, who survives him.
Also the following brothers and sisters: Ren. Kenyon of Oswayo; Wells Kenton of Idaho; James Kenton of Bradford; Mrs. Laura Kelley of Warren; Mortimer Kenyon of Hebron;
Mrs. Hannah Hyde of Millport and Harry Kenyon of Independence, N.Y.
Mrs. Mart Nelson and daughter Permelia Nelson of Ulysses attended the funeral.

1881-08 Mr. Hallam Richards, brother of Mrs. Lucy Lewis of Lewisville, died August 1881 in Mason, Lenawee County, Mich., at the age of 74 yrs. and 6 mos.

She was a daughter of Judge Ebenezer Huntington of Windam, VT.
1882-12-16 Mrs. Charlotte Foote died December 16, 1882 at her home in Tontogany Wood County, Ohio, in her 79th yr. She was a sister of the late Collins Smith, and aunt of Hon. D.C. Larrabee of Coudersport.
Her Sisters, Mrs. Swift of Whitesville and Mrs. Corey of Almond have died before but a brother C.M. Smith of N.Y. City and a sister, Mrs. Harriet Heath in the far west are still living.

1883-06-19 Mrs. Margaret M. Baldwin of Hector died June 19, 1883 in her 81st year. She was born August 30, 1802 in Eastern, N.Y. Lived when young in Owego, N.Y. and there married David Baldwin.
Nearly all her children born there. Moved to Hector Twp. in February 1839. Her husband died about ten years ago.
1883-06-21 Mrs. Harriet M. Kimble of Cuba, N.Y. died June 21, 1883 in her 47th year. She was a daughter of Erastus Merrill of Ulysses.

1883-08-03 Mrs. Julia E. Johnson of Ulysses died August 3, 1883 in her 74th years.
1883-08-05 W. J. Cutler of Lewisville died August 5, 1883, in his 70th year. He was born in Vermont in June 1814; married Rachel Lilly in Courtland County, N.Y.; settled in Bingham in 1840. Six children, one died, five survive.
1883-10-09 Ezekiel Rooks, wife of LH. Rooks of Harrison, Pa. died March 17, 1885 in the 41st years of her age.
1883-10-19 Mrs. Hattie Flynn of Ulysses died October 19, 1883.
1883-10-27 J. DeForest Genung of Ulysses died October 27, 1883 in the 28th year of his age.
1883-11-06 R.A. Moore of Ulysses died November 6, 1883 in his 69th years. He was born in Richford, N.Y., February 22, 1815. In 1837, he married Mary E. Gleason who died October 2, 1881.
They had nine children, seven living, two died in childhood.
1883-11-12 Leavitt Cushing of Ulysses died November 12, 1883, in his 78th year. He was born April 12, 1806 at Worcester, Otsego County, N.Y. At the age of 22, he married Miss Jane Goodrich of Worcester.
They moved to Ulysses in April 1845. Ten children, eight living, two died when young. Of his seven brothers, one remains.
Three of them were early settlers of Ulysses, Hosea Cushing, Samuel Cushing and Lucas Cushing.
1883-11-12 M. Lena Libolt, only daughter of W.S. & Emma J. Libolt died November 12, 1883 in Elmira, N.Y., in her 18th yr. The mother was a niece of Mrs. J.W. Stillman, Mrs. L.H. Dennis, E.B. Monroe and L.G. Monroe.
1883-11-18 Mrs. Hannah Gardner of Westfield died November 18, 1883, in the 41st year of her age. She was a daughter of Nathan & Sarah Torrey, born January 6, 1843 in Ulysses.
Her father died in Michigan when she was quite young and her mother married C.P. Cady and now lives in Ulysses. Her husband, J. Nelson Gardner died July 22, 1883.

and Albert Blackman of Vassar, Michigan. Buried in Ulysses Cemetery.

1885-02-21 Lyman E. McCarn of Bingham died February 21, 1885 in his 64th yr. He was born in Tompkins County, N.Y. and moved to Bingham with his parents 50 years ago.
Nearly 30 years ago, he joined the Eulalia Lodge, no 342, F. & A.M. In 1881 he assisted in forming the Ulysses Chapter.
1885-02-21 Mrs. Polly Clark, widow of the late Thomas R. Clark died February 21, 1885 in her 81st year at the home of he son, Jacob W. Clark in Ulysses.
1885-03 Leroy Gridley, youngest son of William E. & Lucy Gridley, died March 1885 in Bingham, in the 40 years of his age.
1885-03-14 Amzie L. Smith died March 14, 1885 near Westfield, Pa. His wife died about two months ago. Both are buried in Lewisville.
1885-03-25 Mrs. Clarissa Douglass, widow of the late Joseph Douglass of Lewisville died March 25, 1885 in the 75th year of her age.
1885-04-12 Mina Maria Suhr died April 12, 1885. At Ulysses. She was born January 15, 1814 on the Island of Laaland, Denmark.
1885-04-25 John L. Gibson died April 25, 1885 in Hector, in the 76th year of his age. He was born November 12, 1809 at Owego, Tioga County, N.Y. He married September 12, 1830, Cornelia Baldwin who survived.
Moved to Hector Twp., November 15, 1849. Four children: Mr. James Gibson, Mrs. S.H. Bartlett, Mrs. D.W. Havens; and Mrs. Carey who died some years ago.
1885-05-15 Mrs. Sarah J. Douglass died May 15, 1885 in Hector, aged 59 yrs.
1885-05-16 Cynthia Cady, wife of Abijah Cady died May 16, 1885 in Lewisville, in her 36th year.
Born in Westfield, Pa., September 15, 1849, the eldest daughter of Daniel & Violetta Hunter, having an only sister Patience Hunter who is three years younger.
She married September 9, 1872 to Abijah Cady. Her younger sister Mrs. E. T. Potter (Patience Hunter) died June 1, 1884.
1885-05-25 Amos Colcord of Coudersport died May 25, 1885.
1885-05-27 Elizabeth C. Brigham, wife of Perry Brigham died may 27, 1885 at Lewisville in her 45th year. She was the eldest daughter of Charles and Betsey Monroe, born June 7, 1840.
Her younger brother Martin T. Monroe died about 3 years ago. Her sister Mrs. Alice Barker is still living. She married November 26, 1863, Perry Brigham who survived with five children; Ione, Charles, Ann, Burt, and
Grace Brigham, the youngest only 3 years old. She lost a daughter, Carrie, aged 8 years, about seven years ago.
1885-08 Mrs. Eleanor Perry Briggs died August 1885 in her 79th year at the home of her sister in law, Mrs. Harriet Perry in Ulysses. She was born July 23, 1807 at Marathon, Cortland County, N.Y.
Her father Peter Perry removed to Richford, Tioga County, N.Y. while she was small. In 1833 she married Rounsville Briggs who died in 1860. They raised one daughter, Mrs. A. A. Johnson who died in 1861.
Mrs. Harriet Perry was her brother Gurdon Perry’s window. He died in the Civil War.
1885-08-10 Peter Dennis of Harrison Twp. died August 10, 1885, in his 79th yr. He was born in 1806 in the town of Caroline, Tomkins County, N.Y. When 20, he married Anna Vorhies and they had nine children all born in Caroline.
When he was 50, he left his wife and eldest son, Eli Dennis and moved to Jasper, N.Y. His wife died in 1859 and the next year he married Mary Quick and moved to Harrison Twp. By his 2nd wife he has three children all living.
1885-08-22 Archibald Monroe of Bingham Twp. died August 22, 1885 in his 72nd yr.
1885-08-28 Silas J. Acker of Pike Twp, died August 28, 1885 in his 31st year. Leaves a wife and two small children.
1885-10-29 Mrs. Josephine Adams died October 29, 1885. Leaves a daughter about 2 yrs old.
1885-11-01 Achsah Daniels, widow of the late George W. Daniels died November 1, 1885, in her 80th ear.
1885-12-09 Mrs. Marilla Hubbard died December 9, 1885 at the home of her daughter Mrs. Grantier in Ulysses. She was born in Laurens, Otsego County, N.Y. May 5, 1799. When small, she moved to Candor, N.Y.
At the age of 18 she married Achilles Hubbard. They had six children. The youngest two died about 1843 and a few months later, her husband died. She never remarried but raised her children alone.
1886-01-24 Sarah Neal, wife of Judson Neal died January 24, 1886 at Hector, Pa. in her 39th year.
1886-01-29 John C. Lewis, eldest son of John W. & Adeline Lewis of Hector, died January 29, 1886 in Jacksonport, Ark., in his 27th yr. He was born June 38, 1859 in Harrison Twp. Lived in Ulysses before going to Ark.
In 1880 with his friend, M.T. Monroe. M.T. Monroe returned home and died a year later. He studied law under his kinsman, Maj. W.A. Monroe.
1886-02-21 George W. Bradley of Oswayo, Pa., died February 21, 1886, age 69 years.
1886-02-28 William Gill died February 28, 1886 at Whites Corners, in his 88th year.
1886-04-08 Willet Lyon died April 8, 1886 at Wellsville, N.Y. in his 70th yr.
1886-04-08 William Dennis died April 8, 1886 at Harrison Twp. in his 68th year.
1886-07-25 Mrs. Gertie Minard Fox, wife of George Fox died July 25, 1886 in Harrison, aged 19 yrs. Married eight months ago.
1886-12-16 Mary A. Sherman, wife of Bert Sherman died December 16, 1886 at Alfred Center, N.Y. in her 23rd year. She was the only daughter of Mrs. C.M. Allen and the later Walter W. Gridley who died September 29, 1864.
1887-01-12 Mrs. Adelia Chrisman, wife of Safford Chrisman died January 12, 1887 in her 36th year. She was a daughter of Henry Judd.
1887-01-15 Charles Easton died January 15, 1887 at Lewisville, Pa., in his 77th yr.
1887-02-24 Mrs. Susan Robbins, widow of the late Marshall Robbins died February 24, 1887 at the home of her son, M.K. Robbins in Bingham, in her 93rd yr.
1887-02-25 Mrs. Jane Coulston, widow of the late John Coulston died at her home in Bingham Twp. February 25, 1887, in the 77th yr of her age.
1887-04-23 Mrs. Henry Bartlett died April 23, 1887 at Ulysses, in her 45th year. Left a large family of children.
1887-05-06 Murray Carpenter, infant son of Charlie & Carrie Carpenter died May 6, 1887, age 8 months and 14 days
1887-05-12 Caroline P. Burt, wife of William F. Burt died may 12, 1887 at Lewisville, in her 66th year.
1887-06-06 Glenn Orrin Randall, youngest son of Daniel and Kate Crandall died June 6, 1887 at West Pike, Pa., aged 5 mo and 22 days.
1887-09-09 Mrs. Cynthia Burtis died September 9, 1887 at the home of J.J. White in Harrison Valley. She was formerly of Ulysses and is buried at White’s Corners.
1887-09-1 Adolphus Hackett, son of G.B. & Jane Hackett, died September 1, 1887 at West Bingham, in his 21st year.
1887-09-27 Eva Cady, wife of J. B. Cady died September 27, 1887 in Lewisville, in her 22nd year. Left a child seven months old.
1887-10-06 Nora Ellis, only daughter of Mr. & Mrs. Richard Ellis of Ellisburg, died October 6, 1887 at Lewisville, in her 17th yr.
1887-10-10 O. R. Bassett of Lewisville died October 10, 1887 in his 75th year.
1887-10-12 Celia R. Cobb, wife of H. H. Cobb died October 12, 1887 at Lewisville, in her 35th year. She was the eldest daughter of George & Lucetta Rosebush, born July 23, 1852 at Independence, N.Y.
Her mother died when she was none, two years later her father married Mrs. Amanda Stillman. On December 7, 1874,
she married Henry H. Cobb, who survives with two step-sons, Horace L. Cobb and Dorr R. Cobb, two daughters Lucetta L. Cobb and Louisa M. Cobb.
1887-11-16 Gideon B. Hackett of West Bingham died November 16, 1887. He was one of the first settlers, coming here with his father, John Hackett over 60 years ago. His son died September 1st.
1887-12-17 Amelia R. Ferris, wife of J.W. Ferris died December 17, 1877 at Bingham in her 52nd year.
1888-02-23 Rev. Benjamin Thomas of Harrison Valley died February 23, 1888. He was born in Providence, R.I., May 26, 1808. Lived here 37 yrs. His wife died four years ago.
At the age of 21, he married Catherine Gorton and came to Harrison Valley in 1851. They had six children, one son and five daughters. The son died in the Civil War.

among the earliest pioneers. He built two large saw-mills in the county and with his brother George Reynolds helped build the old court house and jail.
They had five children: Stephen P. Reynolds and William C. Reynolds now living in Hebron; Judge H.T. Reynolds; Mrs. Celestia Culver and Mrs. Sarah Babcock, both of Northville. Mr. Reynolds is still in good health at the age of 88 years.

The eldest child of George & Annie Gridley. George Gridley died years ago but Annie Gridley, her mother is in her 93rd year, who survives with six brothers and sisters. In November of 1848,
she married Thomas Hamilton of Tompkins County, N.Y. In 1850 they moved to Potter County and raised a family of six children. The husband and five children survive.

In 1844 he married Nancy Somers of Groton, N.Y. who died in 1869 at Whitesville, N.Y. 8 children. A year and a half later, he married Eliza Green, who survived. One child. His wife was visiting at Raymond when he died and she did not arrive home until next day.

1892-07-28 Mrs. Mary A. Langdon Hart, wife of William M. Hart died July 28, 1892 at North Bingham. She was born in New Hartford, Conn. June 15, 1833.
She came with her parents from Conn. when a child and has resided all her life since in the community where she died.
On October 31, 1850, she married William M. Hart, who survived with four sons and one daughter (Ulysses Sentinel, August 3, 1892).
1892-08-27 Mrs. Caroline Lewis died August 27, 1892 at Lewisville in her 76th year. She was the widow of Crayton Lewis who was accidentally killed by falling in his barn about twenty years ago.
She was a daughter of Dr. John Hinman and was born September 16, 1816 at Upper Lisle, Broome County, N.Y. She married in March 1835, Crayton Lewis at Upper Lisle and soon after moved to Potter County.
She is survived by four children: Mrs. T.E. Gridley of Bingham; John Lewis, Martin Lewis and Carlos A. Lewis of Ulysses. Also an adopted daughter Mrs. E.B. Tracy of Coudersport.

1892-12-05 John Monroe died December 5, 1892 at his home in Minneapolis, Minn., in his 77th yr. Born August 9, 1816 at Vestal, Broome County, N.Y.; came to Potter County when he was about 18 years old;
in 1837, he married Lucy Lewis, the eldest daughter of Seth Lewis who died in the spring of 1839. Two years later he married Mrs. Julia Ann Coon, a widow who survives him.
About thirty years ago he moved west taking all of his family except Nelson D. Monroe, now of Sweden Twp. Of all the seven children that he took, only two remain.

He was a Civil War Veteran. He married Sarah M. Bowen of Knoxville, Pa., and they had two daughters. He is buried at Osceola, Pa. his brother E.L. Heggie and sister, Mrs. D.L. Raymond, live at Gold, Pa.

1893-03-10 Mrs. Dorthea Lehman died March 10, 1893 in Hector, Pa. in her 76th yr. She was born in Germany. January 8, 1818, and came to America with her parents about ten years later.
They settled in Roulet in January 1828. On February 22, 1839, Miss Dorthea Hare married Gottlieb Lehman.
1893-03-11 Mrs. Mary E. Barker of Ulysses died March 11, 1893, age 78 years. She was born in 1815 at Troy, N.Y., but soon moved to Albany where she married John Barker. She was born Mary Goodrich of Mayflower ancestors.
Mr. & Mrs. Barker lived in Newburg, N. Y. where Mr. Barker died 22 years ago. Since then Mrs. Barker has lived with her daughter Mrs. Rev. Matteson and her daughter Mrs. Barker. Buried at Spring Mills beside her husband.
1893-04-10 Grandma Lawrence died at the home of her son, P.J. Lawrence, April 10, 1893, age nearly 85 years. Mrs. Jermina Pratt Lawrence was born July 2, 1808 in Dutchess County, N.Y. and died in North Bingham,
buried in the State Road Cemetery. She was the widow of Willet H. Lawrence who died nearly 13 years ago. She was the mother of seven children, two died many years ago. Surviving are: Mrs. Sarah Chapin of Accomack County, Va.;
Mrs. Maria Greggs of Troupesburg, N.Y.; Mr. Willet Lawrence of Geneva, N.Y.; and Mrs. Delia Cobb of Ithaca, N.Y.

Mrs. Dean of Alden Mich.; Mrs. Cady of Afton, N.Y. and A.B. Whipple of Raymond. At the age of 17 she married Gustavus Scott, son of Tracy Scott. In the winter of 1861, her husband died, leaving her with two children;
Harry Scott and Nellie Scott. On November 29, 1863, she married Daniel Fuller, a Civil War Veteran. They had two children, Charles A. Fuller born August 1866 and Flossie Fuller born September 1875.
In 1857 she lost her son Henry Scott and her daughter Flossie Fuller. Survived by her husband and 2 children, Mrs. J. W. Moore and C.A. Fuller of Raymond; also by an adopted daughter Miss Ida Geir. Buried at Raymond.

1895-03-14 Mrs. Mary (Beecher) Grames, wife of the Rev. R.C. Grames died March 14, 1895. Mary Stewart Beecher Grames was born April 4, 1852 in Coventry, Chenango County, N.Y. Moved to Wellsville when 7 years old.
Her mother was a Stewart from upper part of the Hudson River. Her father was of the Beechers family, early Puritan family of Conn. Survived by her husband and little daughter, Sarah Grames age 7 years.
A brother Robert Beecher of Atlanta, Ga. and Walter J. Beecher of Dansville, N.Y. Buried in Wellsville.

1895-04-11 Alva Carpenter of Newfield died April 11, 1895. His parents settled in Bingham Twp., in 1825 and he married Mary A. Young, daughter of Willis and Sarah Young. Survived by his wife and one daughter; Mrs. H. L. Atherton;
also by four brothers; George Carpenter, Michael Carpenter, Theodore Carpenter and John Carpenter; and five married sisters. One daughter was Mrs. W. J. Grover who died February 22, 1879.
